About Me

I'll be in southern Germany/Austria from August 20th to September 3rd, and I'm looking for some locals to show me around (I've booked my own places). Especially if you're in Munich or Salzburg, hit me up!

I'm a curious and creative intellectual, who enjoys stimulating discussion, (mostly) wholesome adventure, playful banter, and learning new things.

I work as a software engineer, but I'm a writer and musician, and spend my free time making music (www.soundcloud.com/von_william), reading, exercising, riding motorcycles (I've currently got a Triumph Street Twin), doing yoga, and having solo dance parties in my living room...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My goal in traveling is to interact with local people and really get a sense of the place I'm visiting - not just to be an isolated tourist, disconnected from everything. I heard of couch surfing through friends, and thought it could serve my purposes nicely, connecting me with locals who could enrich my traveling experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Music:
Radiohead, Tame Impala, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Pearl Jam, Alt-J, Portugal the Man, Marshmello, Deadmau5, Avicii, Martin Garrix, Beethoven, Bach (Basically, indie, rock, dance music, and classical).

Favorite Movies:
Chamber Maid, Dancing Quietly, Love Steaks, Victoria, Look Whos Back, Wetlands, Kaptn Oskar, Lieb Mich, Pheonix (lots of German indie movies right now; I've been on a binge, and see too many movies to pull others out from older memory banks)

Favorite Books:
The Fountainhead (and Ayn Rand generally - she's misunderstood), The Foundation Trilogy (and other stuff by Isaac Asimov), and lots of non-fiction; I don't read novels as much as I should these days.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I just recently played my music at an Open Mic for the first time, and am gearing up for my first official gig coming up soon.
