About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Expand my knoledge and understanding of the world through poorly planned adventures.

ABOUT ME

I have never written an autobiography. But maybe I should start writing one.

Some of my friends say that I am a little crazy. I say that I am passionate about randomness and lack fear of heights.

PHILOSOPHY

The past was fate. There is absolutely nothing I could have done to alter the predetermined course of my life.

The future is entirely free will. I create my own reality one decision at a time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I am just a surfer, but this fall I will have a couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests

Laughter, minerals, bringing light to dark places, jumping over things, riding bikes, running without shoes, backpacking, climbing, reading, sarcasm, food, music, making things (jewelry, tools, knives, useless things with interesting shapes), seeing new things, embarrassing my self in new ways, staring contests with basilisks, SCUBA diving, attempting to break Newton’s laws, wooden things with six strings, mountains, forests, beaches…and stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2010 I went SCUBA diving at Monastery beach on HWY 1, south of Monterey, CA.
This beach sits at the edge of Carmel Canyon, one of the fingers that leads to Monterey Canyon. I was exploring the kelp forest along the northern edge of the cove, slowly making my way westward towards deeper water. About halfway through the dive, just before we reached the turnaround psi, I swam over one of the most fascinating features I have ever seen: The edge of the world.
My dive buddy and I reached the top of the canyon.
I swam over the edge and stared down into the abyss. The canyon seemed to plummet downwards into infinite, cold, dark, emptiness; a place that has never seen the light of day. I floated there for a few moments, feeling the crushing weight of the water column above me, knowing that it was nothing compared to what was lurking in the darkness below. Nothing has ever made me feel so small and insignificant.
