Interests
I love to fly; to see new places from the air is fascinating. I love to be at the tops of mountains, and time spent outdoors is always rejuvenating. I like making things, woodworking and ceramics are hobbies - my favorites are functional pieces like cutting boards, bowls, plates and mugs. I'm very interested in the history of science and technology.

Music, Movies, and Books
Reading: "De Re Metallica" by Georgius Agricola, "On Food and Cooking" by Harold McGee, "Caveman Chemistry" by Kevin Dunn, "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell, "What If" by Randall Munroe.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Leaving port at night from Airlie Beach aboard the Solway Lass sailing ship... Nearly midnight under a full moon shining through a partly cloudy sky. Looking up through the rigging as we pulled away from the dock I felt a thrill of adventure - I'd love to do more sailing on old sailing ships.
Flying over coral reefs near the Florida Keys at 25 feet off the water, in an open cockpit WW2 biplane, I saw a giant sea turtle dive beneath the water. Flying offers a unique perspective and a way to see things in a new way.
Teach, Learn, Share
I learned how to shine a pair of boots in the army...
