About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Writing the next chapter of our adventure.

ABOUT ME

Kelly and I (Trey) met in college at Texas A&M University. One of our biggest similarities is our love for the outdoors and travel. As a Geologist, I have been to lots of amazing places in the US. AFter graduating I spend a couple of weeks hitchhiking down the west coast of New Zealand and met some fantastic people. Kelly spent several months in Swaziland, Africa and frequently re-visits Colorado to teach at a summer camp. Her dad is a pilot, so she is WAAAAY more well traveled that I am. We both love hosting friends, meeting new people, engaging in meaningful conversation, and soaking up wide mountain views.

Trey's hobbies include playing guitar, running, smoking barbecue, amateur woodworking, and playing the banjo. Kelly's hobbies include kayaking, exploring, and traveling.

We enjoy hosting other surfers, too. That's what this thing is all about right? You're not supposed to just take advantage of other peoples good will and sleep on their couch without coming back and offering up your couch for other surfers. I have met some very hospitable hosts in my travels, so I do my best to meet or exceed the level of hospitality that others have shown me when I host other surfers. I usually host surfers during football season. College Station has one of the most unique game-day experiences in the nation and I do my best to show every surfer the excitement of Kyle Field and the traditions that we have here at A&M.

PHILOSOPHY

Always say "yes" to the things that scare you.
Love others, regardless.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I was in college (the past 6 years) I hosted people during football season and gave them the best and most authentic Texas A&M gameday experience that I possibly could. Football season in College Station is one of my favorite times of the year and sharing that with other people was such a fun experience. Now I am married and my wife and I live in Sugar Land (a suburb of Houston) where we are on a constant mission to discover the most beautiful and secluded green spaces, most authentic Mediterranean and Mexican food, and tastiest coffee. Fun fact- the Houston area is THE most ethnically diverse city in the USA. That being said, there are TONS of great places to eat, museums to enjoy, and hip cultural districts for people of every variety. We are fairly new here, so we are still discovering the area, too!

OUR COUCH

Our goal is to be fun, inviting, and hospitable hosts to traveling surfers who are in Houston to experience our city, it's culture, and it's people. That being said, we are not a hotel service. Our couch is open to surfers who are traveling and need a place to crash or someone to enjoy some adventures with (if our schedules are clear). Oh, we also have two big-ish dogs (basically our kids, let's be honest), so if you love dogs we'd love to host you!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed quite a bit while I was traveling through New Zealand and periodically during other road trips around various states.I have met some amazing people through CS and plan to meet many more! Any hospitality I receive, I try to give back to others in equal or exceeding quantities.
I host surfers in College Station and give them the absolute best College Station experience that I can.
