About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To finish everything!

ABOUT ME

I am a quirky dude. If you ask me a question about how I feel, I'll go on about what I see five years in the future. Haha, I'm a thinker, an observer, and if you put a camera on my hands I'll be all over the place so watch out!

Photography is a big reason why I travel. I love photographing pathways, corridors, making small spaces look big, making doorways look inviting. It stems from my love of exploration. Yeah, I'm a dork but it's fun!

Also, I love chocolate.

PHILOSOPHY

Set goals and achieve them.

When something scares you, run toward it.

Someday I'll follow my own advice..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate by surfing, haha :)

I've surfed a couple of times and it's a great way to meet locals. It's fun to give back, even if it's in the form of conversation, sharing different ideas and cultural differences, that's part of why we travel, isn't it?

I've also hosted people (mostly when I lived in Chicago) and it's a cool way to meet travelers. I love hearing stories from whatever part of the world you're from.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first surfing experience was in Ireland and my host convinced me to follow her driving directions to the Wicklow Mountains.

I had barely been driving an Irish car for three days and that was after getting a flat tire. I was hesitant to drive to the 'Top of the World' as she described it, on my own, haha.

I'm glad my host urged me to go, because it was one of the most beautiful drives through the country. Narrow roads are part of Ireland's charm. I stopped to take pictures of sheep, rolling hills, and yes, the top of the world!

"If you can do that drive, you can go anywhere in Ireland," she said. Three weeks later, I had driven anti-clockwise from Dublin to the north past Giant's Causeway, to the west coast and the Cliffs of Moher, down south to Portmagee, and back to Dublin with no accidents or flat tires. She was right! :)

I came back with some of the best experiences -and photos- of my life.

Interests

Photography (especially landcapes and architecture, wide-angles are my favorite!)

Hiking (or walking, I could walk forever in certain places. Not treadmills though, I feel like I'm not making any progress haha)

Floor Hockey! I can't wait to get home and start playing again.

Anything involving nature, I love learning about the tiny -microorganisms- or the vast -galaxies- because we never see it in real life, but without them we wouldn't exist.

hmm..alright I'm dorky, but it's okay!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Truman Show ("We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented"), Terminator 2 (could watch this forever and not get tired of it), Clue (I loved this so much I themed my birthday party after it)

Books. Ray Bradbury. Orson Scott Card. Roger Zelazny

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I explored an abandoned Coal Breaker plant and Tank Factory in the same day!

Teach, Learn, Share

Being dorky is cool. Haha, I don't want to hide that and I encourage you to do the same, basically be yourself. :)

I feel as if social action is subtle and led by example. By just being your values, you encourage overs to follow if they share the same values. At the very least you bring them to light, sometimes without realizing it.

Not to get all fortune-cookie-y on you but..
Communication is the most important thing.
Be honest.. With yourself first.

Don't be afraid of your fears, embrace them.

Again, I wish I could follow my own advice, but..that's why we're human.
:)
