About Me

ABOUT ME

Adventurous and creative. Athletic and smart. Kind and curious. Inspirational and dependable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like people. I have had great experiences both Couch surfing- with and with out the organization, and hosting- with and without the organization. What it boils down to is that people can be very nice, and do want to help you get to know about their lives and locales. I believe in cultural exchange. When I was twenty, I was bicycle touring with my boyfreind in British Columbia, Canada. People took us into their homes with a generosity I never had experienced. From then on, I wanted to be as generous as they were.

Interests

Being Outside! Sailing, free diving, water, water and more water. Swimming, paddling, rowing, water skiing- did I say, anything water? Hiking, Botany, anything that grows, good food, music, dancing, languages, architecture, all design. Snow sports, ice skating, skiing, yoga.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sailing into a eerily still and deserted Native American Village Site in northern Puget sound, and then discovering the massive moss covered totems amidst the fern and foliage was one of the highlights of small sailboat adventures that will humble me until my breath leaves this earth. circa 1996

Driving with my Italian friend Carlotta in Esperia Superior (south of Rome, Italy) in search of relatives from my grandmothers home town, who I had never met. We climbed the narrow windy rocky lane, until our car could go no further. We had been following a Fiat 500. It disappeared. From a doorway a man stuck his head out, just ahead of our car. "Can we get through?" we called out." No, only the Fiat 500!" he replied. We laughed, and slowly inched our way out of that predicament. Everyone we met took us into their home, garden, offered us some grappa or crostini and tried to help us. I discovered the most refreshing drink on a hot dry day- champagne and Campari with fresh orange slices. circa 2007

Sailing extensively on the Pacific Ocean, Caribbean and Atlantic. Not just sailing, but living aboard for years and getting all sea skills honed.

Starting and running a design business from the ground up without holding a business degree, THEN getting a degree in management.

Giving birth.
