In short, I am what I would consider to be a modern day Renaissance Man. Two summers ago I worked in HVAC (installing heating and cooling systems in homes) and this summer I plan on being a line cook at a local restaurant. I enjoy many tenets of American society, but also love to step outside the box and experience other cultures and people unknown to me. I take the chance to learn anything I can from the people I meet, and am always looking to further broaden my horizons with any given chance that comes my way. I also love people, and given the chance I'd would love to broaden my own horizons with you while also making friends for the future.

Well the obvious initial answer is money. Being a student means debt must be payed, and while I refuse to let that stop travel with my friends, cutting costs anywhere is a necessity. Yet, it is more than that as well. I truly would love the opportunity to get to meet locals wherever I go, not being a mere visitor in the city but learning what a day in the life looks like. I can be okay with coming just to stay, but my ideal couch surfing experience involves spending at least some time with the host, something as little as getting a meal at your favorite restaurant or even a quaint meal in. I'd love to get the chance to meet you, and for you to show me the splendors of your city.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Music
--I really try to be one not to boast in life, but music is one of the few things I would allow myself to say I am well versed in. In my largest playlist I currently have a little over 8,000 songs, most of which I could tell you at least something about the artist or song for. I truly enjoy all types of music and would love to share my passion for music with you, as well as listening to your own favorite tracks and possibly whatever is local.
Movies
--Most of my movie experience has been within the realm of action, though I have started to branch out. Some favorite movies of mine would range from Black Hawk Down to Castle In the Sky to Schindler's List. I'd be happy to give recommendations, and also would not mind to watch a movie or two with a prospective host, again also being happy to learn of your favorite movies as well.
Books
--When I was younger I was very much into reading books and spent much time doing so, but did eventually fall off around middle school. I would read lots of mythology stuff, such as the Percy Jackson series, but would also branch out to other mysteryesque things such as the 39 Clues series. After being at college for a year, I'd say I read 300 pages a week, regaining my passion for reading books and gathering a broad range of readings from The Iliad to Unequal Childhoods. I acquired many books and have continued to read sense, reading things related to academia while also reading for fun with books such as the Game of Thrones series.

After breaking my femur and recovering, I was able to obtain Eagle Scout at the age of 16, a formidable task even with two working legs.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Teach:
While I'm still learning, I enjoy cooking a lot and would love to show you how to make some of my own favorite dishes.
Learn:
Specifically, I would love to learn the nuances of foreign languages. Things such as "Tu me manques" in French that have a certain profundity to them that can not be conveyed as well in English. More generally, I'm happy simply to learn more about the host and the culture of wherever I happen to be visiting.

I can share a fervor for making friends and a passion for learning about the culture that I find myself in, as well as my host. I can also share part of myself, telling you of my life and what I have learned and encountered, hopefully giving you a little sense of adventure in your own home.
