About Me

Left the United States to taste the world. Currently working as an English teacher in South Korea. I came here to find out who I am and in return experience what many people don't-- living in a completely foreign country and trying to get by.

I'm 25 years young and have had a fever for traveling ever since I left.
I'd like to say I am a learner, always trying to gain knowledge about other people or cultures, to be aware of my surroundings and be thankful for what I have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hopefully to meet some rad people. I haven't stayed with any members but hopefully in the near future I will come across some of you! I want the opportunity to meet as many people from different countries. I want to engage in intelligent but fun conversation.

Interests

I take pleasure in outdoor activities. Kayaking, hiking, gun ranges, just exploring. Get me away from the city and I am at my prime. I have a knack for bushwacking and bushcraft. I'll build a log cabin one day with my hands.

I am actively learning Korean and take pride in the ability, and also struggle of learning languages.

I recently started taking table tennis lessons at a local gym. I used to play when I was in high school and recently decided that I missed it.

I take film photography in my free time. The randomness of it all really excited me. I want to record my travels not through the use of modern ways of phone. I like tangible items. Also, the anticipation of not knowing how your film was developed makes it ever better!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- House, country and metalcore, deephouse. I'm open to anything though
Books- Memoirs of a Geisha, The Things They Carried, Norwegian Wood
Movies- Saving Private Ryan, Interstellar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I played a guitar show at a small cafe here in Korea. The turnout wasn't a lot of people, but I got to play some of my original music that I had been working on for quite some time. I feel that playing music is not just about yourself, but what the audience feels and takes from it. Even if the crowd is small, its the magic you can create and captivate the audience that makes it worth it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am fond of hunting and have some pretty extensive knowledge in skinning and cultivating animals for food. All self taught and willing to share my stories. I love spending time outdoors and being one with nature.

I have been playing guitar for about 13 years now. If you ever want to jam, I am more than welcome to share what I know and learn from you as well.

Planning on hiking the PCT in the spring of 2017.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my indispensable wit of outdoor knowledge but also the company of a person who doesn't take life for granted, even in times of adversity. I have (after 25 years) realized that life is never fair and it never will be. I don't expect people to hold my hand along the way, but I can share my humble presence as well as a good attitude towards life. I can share my personal stories in times of happiness and deep depressions- to create a lasting impression on you. I can tell funny stories or not so funny stories. I just want to meet people who are interesting and want to form a feeling of connection, regardless if we ever meet again.
