About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Visit as many countries as we can before the real world starts!

ABOUT ME

We are three college students ready to explore the world and trying to save a buck while doing so! We want to get away from the mainstream touristy locations and really surround ourselves in the culture and the "locals." The past trips have mainly been introducing ourselves to Europe ( and trying to not look too much like Americans ;) ), yet we are ready for a change! Youth hostels have been great to get to know other travelers, but it would be fantastic to get to know local people in each country. Learning about their favorite restaurants, playhouses, local hangouts, and even the best grocery stores, is definitely a goal of ours for future trips!

PHILOSOPHY

See it a penny pick it up and all day you will have good luck :)

Live. Love. Laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Although we have no couches to offer, we can always meet up for coffee and show you around the little town we grew up in! Most people have never heard of our little town, nor can you find it on a map of Virginia in most cases, but if the need arises, we are here and willing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We haven't used it yet but we are hoping it will be a great adventure and a learning opportunity (yes even though we are on summer break, we still like learning!!)

Interests

TRAVELING! culture, counterculture, eating (especially 'picnic' style with food from the market or small grocery stores!), reading the classics, new music, comparing travel stories on trains with random people we sit next to, ..having fun in general

Music, Movies, and Books

Indie-rock, rock, a little country, classical, jazz, alternative, pop, rap... anything but screamo!

Books: Harry Potter, The Count of Monte Cristo, Oliver Twist, Anna Karanina, anything by Jane Austen and the Brontes, The Golden Compass series, Fight Club, Catcher in the Rye...there is quite a list (I for one LOVE reading)

Movies: ha..Harry Potter again, LOTR, Shawshank Redemption, Singing in the Rain, Donnie Darko, The Holiday, Blood Diamond, Juno, Across the Universe, Garden State, Monty Python...pretty much a huge list of any romantic comedy, action, comedy, chick flick, and a couple of sci-fi movies!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I consider it amazing that we backpacked through parts of Europe alone at the tender ages of 16 and 17! Our parents are very trusting....

Teach, Learn, Share

One great thing that I have learned is that sometimes you shouldn't go by your itinerary. If you feel like you are rushing through a country just to say that you have "done" Rome and Paris and London, you are not truly traveling anymore. Sometimes you need more than a day to see a city and really get to know it! So what if you lose a $10 deposit on an already booked hostel room? Lose the deposit and really enjoy another day in the same location. If you stay for a few extra days, you really grasp the feeling of "wow I'm actually here" and that is one of the most amazing experiences! ENJOY EVERY MINUTE!

Countries I’ve Visited
