About Me
CURRENT MISSION
allowing intrepid travellers to discover hidden and innaccessible places of the West coast of Madagascar
ABOUT ME
I have a rather strong personality and fiery Italian temper. I am dreadful when it comes to punctuality. I am straight but not narrow, sociable, unsystematically organised, easy going, not a bit disciplined, spontaneous, restless, open minded, forgetful, free spirited, leisurely workaholic, environmentally aware, fearless, adaptable, energetic, extremely slow, positive, independent, addicted to my computer, but for those of you who remember their Latin, I do wear my name beyond doubt.
After having been a geologist, soil mechanics engineer working on drilling boats, accountant, tax consultant, property developer, and running a bush TV company, I got involved in a dream adventure, a traditional wooden sailing boat building project.
The dream came eventually true in 2009 and since then I spend most of my time on NOFY BE (that is how she is called, "big dream" in Malagasy) in the Canal of Mozambique, hopping from island to island, anchoring in secret bays, meeting local populations and their traditions, exploring undiscovered and hidden locations, whale and dolphin watching.
I only go back to wet and windy Plymouth, my European base, for a few weeks a year...
PHILOSOPHY
life is a beach
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
If you happen to pass through Nosy Be, the Island North West of Madagascar, between June and November why not come and see if we are moored in the bay called "le Port du Cratere", near Ambatoloaka, not far from the Marina with the old railway coaches.
Or even better, if we have spare bunks, join us for a discovery sailing trip on this marvellous coast. My crew, 5 experimented Vezo sailors and myself would be delighted to show you this part of Madagascar.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Always lived in big houses with loads of people, from home where mum always found that 5 kids weren't enough, to shared houses in several Unis across the world, then hosting foreign students, life guards, surfers (wave ones...) and all sorts of other people during my married life in the UK, to now sharing our "hut" in Morondava with crew and passing friends when onshore.
Interests
I can't stay still. I love sailing, travelling, walks, cycling and skiing.
I also love going out, dancing, art, music, theatre and films.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most kinds of music, but not so keen on heavy metal and rap...
I love reading. Lately, the book that left the most lasting impression is the "Long walk to freedom", Nelson Mandela's autobiography, amazingly well written and what a life story!
As for films, I know this may sound slightly biased, but I love BRUCE BROS productions!!! (My sons' who are 2 up and coming film directors and won loads of prizes on Festivals, so it looks like other people share my tastes...)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
