ABOUT ME

The Freewheeling Life Group was established by me in early 2013. I have spinal cord injury (SCI) after a severe accident 4 years ago. After a long time of treatment and rehabilitation in the hospital and at home, I decided to move out and live independently. I was the first person in Da Nang who received support from Hanoi Independent Living Centre for peer counselling and Personal Assistant (PA). However, the PA system in Da Nang is not very effective.I rented a house in Hai Chau District, Da Nang and lived alone for the first month after moving out. After that, some students came and supported me every day. I decided to let students to live in my house for free. They supported me when I needed and I became more independent in my life. I started some social activities such as teaching IT for a student with disabilities, English class for people with disabilities (PWDs) and volunteers, PA training, hosting tourists in Da Nang, and peer counseling for wheelchair-users. All activities are at my rented house and paid by the savings I had accumulated prior to my accident. After some months, My Group has become well-known in Da Nang, especially in some universities. More students come to Free Wheeling Life to share experience and study English. Now, there are 10 core members in my group including 7 PWDs, 3 volunteers

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm always looking for new things from CSers who come to my group. We always have space for you guys. However, I have a condition :
- You should spend about 1h to introduce us about the city where you are from. (you can use computer or our board). Interaction with my group is appriciated.
If you want to learn more about Danang city, we are always ready to help you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have difficulty in travelling. However, I have been hosting CSers for 5 years and learning many things from them. The experience CSers bring to my organization are very meaningful and helpful.

Intereses

I like social activities so I would like to create events which bring people closer together.

I joined CS 5 years ago. I have got 3 amazing things from CS as following;
- I have been making friends around the world and learning from them.
- I created a group including people who have similar situation and goals to mine. This is a valuable resource for community development
- We have been creating many interesting activites. CS and my group have shared many new things together
