About Me

I'm new to couchsurfing but I really like the whole idea! In fact, many of the great memories I have from travelling are related to people I met or spent time with, locals, wanderers, friends...

As for myself, I'm a lover of social science (I'm fond of all sciences, but time is short...), music, languages and good food (+ coffee addict). Of course, like any human being I'm multidimensional and like other stuff too, but I reckon this paints a faaairly informative picture.

Eager to meet new people, both those with whom I identify and those who challenge my way of seeing the world. Always looking to develop myself and, of course, have a great time.

**Vou escrever um pouquinho aqui em português brasileiro só pra honrar a pátria. Um salve pra todas e todos couchsurfers br! **

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe a place, any place, only makes sense because of the people who are there to experience it, interpret it and build their reality around it. Getting to know a new place from a local perspective, or sharing views about places we've been to are things I absolutely love to do.

Besides that, there's something intriguing and exciting about finding out what makes us different and, consequently, what makes us alike.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

I can appreciate pretty much anything depending on the context, but I'm a big fan of jazz, latin american rythms in general, alt rock and electronic music.

MOVIES:

Pretty much anything by the Coen Brothers.

Love horror movies despite the fact that it's a miserable genre. That goes for anything from the ludicrously gory Dead Alive (indeed a comedy for anyone with a morbid sense of humor) to more engrossing psychological narratives like Rosemary's Baby.

BOOKS: I can have just as much fun with scholarly literature as with fiction (novels etc.). Genre doesn't matter provided the book is good. A couple of random examples:

-> Alice in Wonderland

-> Ensaio sobre a Cegueira (Blindness) is probably one of the best books in human history (that I have read - not much lol).

-> Homo Faber for its poignant reflexion on fate, free-will and contingency.

-> Not sure if it's Stockholm Syndrome or real love, but Alexander Wendt's "Quantum Mind and Social Science" was one of the most exciting (and toughest) reads I've come across in recent times.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to help with anything I've a reasonable amount of knowledge about. That might include some of the languages I speak, social science, my life in Brazil and experiences abroad...

As for learning, although I'd be particularly interested in getting to know people's perspectives about the places where they live (or have been to) I'm truly open for all kinds of knowledge. There's nothing like learning something from people who are passionate about what they do, no matter what that is (I'm obviously not including any nefarious stuff that involves needlesly harming or mistreating other living beings)
