ABOUT ME

I'm a 27 year old guy from the Netherlands who just finished a master in Industrial Engineering and Management (I did my bachelor in Automotive Engineering). After my graduation I traveled a bit and now I'm working full time as an Integration Engineer at a company who develops automated material handling systems.

About me:
pff. About me.. Well I think I´m an open minded and easy going person (like everybody on couchsurfing haha). I try to be positive most of the time but as I´m dutch, I´m able to complain about lots of little things as well :p .

My interests are traveling and seeing a bit of our nice little world, meeting new people & experience cultures, learn about peoples experiences, party a bit, computing, squash and religion.

My travels in a nutshell:
After my graduation in 2007 (bachelor mechanics) I wanted to see something of the world so I packed my bags and went to Australia, New-Zealand and Fiji. After this great trip I worked for 4 months in a company but I decided to study more so I went to the technical University of Eindhoven for my master (Industrial Engineering and Business Science). As I always wanted to do an international semester and learn a new language I decided to go to Buenos Aires for half a year.

I also hitchhiked quite a lot which I think is a good way to meet people you normally not easily meet in like hostels, etc. My first big hitchhike journey was in 2009 together with a friend. We hitchhiked to Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Siofok, Zilina, somewhere in Poland and back to the Netherlands (about 3200 km in total) and we met some really nice people along the way.

My second big hitchhike trip was in june 2012, just before I started working. I hitchhiked in 3 weeks to Istanbul and passing Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Novi Sad, Belgrade and Sofia on the way. It was a great journey and in the end my girlfriend came to visit me (by airplane haha).

PHILOSOPHY

The world is a beautiful place and I try to enjoy it as much as possible.

some quotes I like:
"Life is a sum of all your choices” Albert Camus

"From mine it's a generation that's circles the globe and searches something we haven't tried before. So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It's probably worth it."

"Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own." Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed quite a few couches during the years and now it's time to start hosting some people as well :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

At the moment I mainly surfed couches instead of hosting people.. I´ve surfed about 8/9 couches and had nothing but good experiences. Although I´m not living in the most beautiful part of the Netherlands I like to host people as well!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
Travel without (too much) plans, go the way the wind goes. Of course, read a bit about what you want to do and where you want to go but please let your lonely planet be lonely and burn the thing before you go traveling (it´s too heavy to carry around anyways). For the rest I can learn you some Dutch of-course and some Spanish.

Learn:
I´m open to learn about anything.
