关于我

CURRENT MISSION

"Its not an adventure of a lifetime, its a lifetime of adventure..."

ABOUT ME

Michael and I met on the dance floor New Years Eve in 2011 and we have been inseparable since. Our friends say we have something special, I don't know about all that, but I have to admit our relationship is very organic. Not long after we met, we decided we really wanted to see the world together. Both of us have the philosophy that you can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it. Being that I have degrees in Archaeology, Religious Studies and a Masters in Psychology and Michael has a Mechanical/Energy Engineering degree and a MBA, we can figure out how to do almost anything.

When we are not traveling we spend our days renovating houses to use as rental properties. Our mission is to seek out that house that has been abandoned, boarded up and a disgrace to the neighborhood. Nothing gives us more pride in fixing up these homes and making them suitable for families to move in to revitalize the neighborhood.

We have both traveled a lot in the United States. I (Toni) roamed around in my Volkswagen Westfalia for several years and have visited just about every national park in America. While Michael grew up being moved all over the US and has lived in about 16 different places throughout his life. We have now traveled across the southern part of the America in the beginning of 2013 finishing that year traveling the Western United States for 4 months. In 2014 we visited 12 countries, 52 cities in Europe riding the rail system for 4 months. We tried Couch surfing for the very first time in he US before our Europe trip and had a very good experience with Al from Italy. We realized at that moment we were Couchsurfers at heart. our last big adventure was driving to Alaska for the summer and Mexico to Colorado for the winter. We are looking to take in as much of the culture as possible while enjoying good food and of course good beer and wine.

PHILOSOPHY

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience... HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are still pretty new as we have only surfer or hosted a couple times.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are newbies experiencing a new concept to traveling and sharing knowledge.

兴趣

Our interests include anything to do with the outdoors. We love hiking, traveling of course and eating out and touring cities(big, small, old, new).

(not to mention cooking, gardening, house building, concrete countertops, triathlons, fishing, guitar playing, beer brewing, coffee drinking as a sport, junk thats really valuable, the questions of why and why not, conservation, microscopy and photography, thermodynamics, white water rafting, mountain climbing, mountain biking, snow skiing, sailing, history, futurism, kinesiology, conspiracy theories, distance running, whether to take a ferry across the adriatic sea or a train through the balkans to get to greece, if my grandfather really swam the danube river to get out of czechoslovakia in the 1920's... mike)

音乐、电影和书籍

Michael and I love just about every type of music, especially something we can dance to. I feel like I've been to a million concerts in my life. One of my favorite concert moments was getting to dance on stage with The Doors. Michael dances like grover (google grover dance). When we are driving all we listen to is country. Between us we are quite well read. I enjoy the classics while Michael likes the more technical type books. We rather watch movies instead of TV shows.

(I suggest John McPhee - Encounters with the Arch Druid one of my favorites - Mike)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have seen so many amazing things that I can't pick one that stands out from the rest. I am most proud of the years I spent working with youth at risk, helping them change their lives. I still receive messages and calls from the young people I counseled, thanking me for the impact I made on them. Toni

Done - I ran the grand canyon, down kiabab trail to the river and back up bright angel trail.(mike)
Seen - Arenal Volcano Eruption (mike)
