About Me

My Instagram is @tylerbakelman

Right now I'm on traveling through the world improving myself, my skills, and my knowledge in cultures and languages.

I want to go out and immerse myself into a culture. I want to be out of my comfort zone and on an adventure.

I want an authentic experience not cooped up in some hotel room. What's the point of traveling to these places if you're just sitting in a room not doing anything? I can do that here!

I am working on finishing my Bachelor's in applied Science in Business Supervision and Management before going for a MBA. I've already earned an Associate's in Arts a month after turning 19.

I'm always up to something whether that be a full time student and being employed full time (most recently law firm), to making and managing my website or managing rental properties (mostly minor repair work), or trying to learn something interesting like a new language, culture or a place I'd like to travel to. I'm always up for a good conversation, I have a lot of knowledge about certain topics and a bunch awesome stories to tell (I've even wrote a few stories down in a little conversational comedy skit because people enjoy some of the stories so much).

I'm usually up to go on an adventure the crazier the better! I can be very spontaneous at times. Don't worry either I am definitely a hippy too that can go with the flow and relax, I'm low maintenance but I have the potential to go out and have some awesome experiences.

P.S. When I say I have lived somewheres (*see places I've lived below) I was in that country for over a month since I usually bounce around from place to place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am interested in learning about other cultures and individuals in an attempt to understand the world better as a whole without bias through the thoughts and feelings of those who live here. I'm on couch surfing because I would like to meet new people while traveling so I am not just some tourist looking at the main attractions and moving on.

It seems that everyone I ask wants to travel the world, but they never end up doing so. The main reason they say is it costs too much. I say if there is a will there is a way. I intend to travel as far as I can with what I have to fulfill my aspiration of traveling and hopefully inspire others to live their life to the fullest by travel to where they want to go. I also want to enrich myself with the abundant knowledge that many people and cultures have that I lack.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy books written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle such as Sir Nigel.

I enjoy TV shows such as Rick and Morty, EL ministerio del tiempo (spanish only), Jack Ryan, Outlander, Better Call Saul, and South Park

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. I have drove from SouthWest Florida to Rhode Island and back (over 2000 miles) with my disabled (wheelchair) grandfather. Also flew from Boston to Dallas on the same trip and back with my grandfather (and you thought the bathroom was too small to use with one person try two full grown men). Then drove back to South Florida to drop off my grandfather only to get a job in Washington D.C. and needing to drive all the way back up there where I took a 3 day weekend to visit family in New York ( upstate) and New Jersey so on a Monday morning at 4 am I drove my worst morning commute to get into work from New Jersey, to Pennsylvania, to Delaware, to Maryland, to Washington D.C.. That's how I'd spend my summers before I could travel the world now that I can travel the world and not just the good old USA I do much, much more!

Extra

2. I went backpacking in Europe and South America!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can try to teach English and some Spanish. I know a few phrases in a dozen or so languages so I make a good first impression. I enjoy history and the business and can try to teach about investments.

I would like to learn about people's life elsewhere first hand. I do not want to watch the news and act like I know the place.

I can share my knowledge, connections with other people, and feelings.
