About Me

Hello everyone 👋🏼

This is my first time on Couchsurfing so hoping to build a respectable profile over the next few months

Next trip is Chamonix —> Berlin at Christmas/New Years!

Originally from New Zealand, I have now recently moved to the UK, down in Dorset on the south coast, working in Education for a year. I love what I’m doing, and since I have a lot of school holidays to play with, I’m keen to get around as much of Europe as possible! I’m a social guy who is massively interested in the way different people live their lives, as it has a huge impact on the way I live mine. I’m a sporty guy, and love the outdoors.
Any chance I can to go for a scenic drive, and tasting new food is top of the list for me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have done a bit of travel in the past couple of months around Barcelona/Paris/Amsterdam, and I’ve learnt that although hostels are good for keeping social, and making travellers lives easy, I find the constant coming and going quite unsettling, and you feel like a real tourist. Although I’m obviously a tourist, I don’t want to feel like one. I want to explore a city on my own terms, and that may not be to see all the hot spots and big buildings, but getting out of the city if need be and going for a drive. I’m hoping to find like minded people on here to stay with, to make a city more memorable and enjoyable.

Interests

Sport and outdoors, understanding different cultures and nations, how different countries operate economically and politically (in basic form), and exchanging stories and experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love all kinds of music to some degree! Go through waves of loving old music that my Dad listened to, sometimes enjoy new pop music, love soft rock at the moment, and always find a gem in alternative music.
Enjoy a good movie, any genre.
And it’s my goal to read more books this year - currently reading Scar Tissue (Anthony kiedis biography - red hot chillie peppers). Great read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driven every semi-main road in New Zealand

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m a hockey player and a rowing coach, which is what I am specialising in at the school I am currently at in Dorset. Love both sports, and enjoy teaching the students new skills. I have the basics of guitar down, but would love to learn some more if anyone can help?!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Knowledge about New Zealand is definitely a strong point! Having lived their my whole life and done lots of travel around, I have a good base of knowledge!
Understanding what teachers are really like behind the scenes - it was always something I wanted to know!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Fiji, France, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
