ABOUT ME

I'm an experienced backpacker, living with my long-term girlfriend. We have a large house with two spare rooms, and are able to host backpackers for a little while. Harrogate is a pretty town, proud of it's flora and it's a gateway to the Yorkshire Dales and Moors, and some cute little towns and villages are a day-trip away. I am a native Brit, while Eve is French (and fluent in Spanish and English, too). She's also a veteran 'packer.

In the past I've updated Lonely Planet guides as I travelled (Africa on a Shoestring, Canada, South Africa, Egypt, etc.). Older copies will still have my name at the back!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Having backpacked around the world several times I've encountered many, many fellow travellers. I've remained firm friends with some, and have been blessed with extraordinary kindness from others. This is my chance to give a little something back to the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with random people all over the world. They placed trust in me, and usually when help was most needed, so now I can do something back.

Hosted first Couchsurfer early June 2010 from Rumania; visit seemed to go really well for them and was great for us.

Second pair of visitors in July 2010 for a night; likewise everyone enjoyed the experience.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Travelling in Uganda, early 1993. After car crash was forced to hike along dirt road to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Encountered a small village school where the children had never seen white people before. To a chorus of 'A mzungu' (foreignor) they abandoned lessons and rushed out to see and touch us. Magic.
