Overview
About Me
🦄 Good day 🌈🧚🏻♂️
I’m Udo,
🏠 Amsterdam, Oud West.
Occasionally pescatarian, full-time vegetarian. Allergic to (cheap) perfumes, perfumed laundry detergents, deodorants, air fresheners, and neo-liberals and worst.
I try to maintain a daily yoga practice, but don’t worry—you’re not required to join! 😅
I view Couchsurfing as a social platform, and I host with that in mind. If you make a request, I assume you have read this entire profile and agree with its contents. Please read, including the ‘my home’ section and the additional information below
As I prefer to make a connection, I look forward to your clear and motivated request. Be specific about practicalities, such as the number of days and people (maximum 2). Please elaborate on your intentions, plans, and expectations for your stay in Amsterdam, as well as what you hope from me as your host.
We’ll see if, how and to what extent we match. Of course, we may have our own separate plans, or we could spend time together—whatever fits our schedules.
Amsterdam is a large village/small town with a wild (and somewhat overrated) reputation for freedom and independence. It also capitalises heavily on tourism and such, which appropriates that reputation. Nevertheless, it is uniquely beautiful in its own way—the colonial history in trade, raids and slavery that made it rich, the old city centre, the architecture, culture, and the view ‘Berlinesque’ wannabe clubs and parties.
Everything is fairly walkable 🚶🏽♀️ and 🚴🏿 distance. Urban and inter-local public transport is expensive, though fairly good. A bicycle is the best way to get around within Amsterdam and the surrounding regions.
Once again, please read this entire profile, including the ‘my home’ section and the additional information below. In your request, prove that you have.

📖 Dyslectic slow reader, non-fiction history. some NL literature, mainly Comics/Graphic Novels, drawn to old school encyclopaedias.
Since the recent joined forces of business and politics I abandoned all Meta-apps like Insta, FB and WhatsApp.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming with mantas near Komodo islands, and travel Indonesia. I rather not fly anymore though. 💨
Teach, Learn, Share
-My home, live life, cook, drink (not persé alcoholic, sober curious), eat, (vegetarian, occasionally pescatarian), sleep.
- Navigating the hostile Amsterdam (bike) traffic,
-Sailing. However I do not have a boat, my friends have, and I sometimes rent one for a day.
-Surviving this beautiful and cruel world. :-)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Up till now I only host. If I ever will surf, I can share my ability to repair things (except for broken hearts and minds). My somewhat weird and original character loyal and open to sincerety.
It comes without saying (well, I anyway say it here) I am tidy and doing my chores, both at home as well as at others. Usually leaving places at least as I found them or better, as I expect the same from my guests.
