Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Up to now, I have been the member of the community for a few months. I have offered my couch, met with the other couchsurfers in town and I have surfed some couches in the region.

Interests

- Trans-Siberian railway, sleeper trains and back-packs.
- Grandparents as they tell interesting stories about the old times.
- Le Corbusier and modernist architecture.
- Some special quarters of Tallinn and Tartu (Nõmme Supilinn, Kalamaja, Karlova).
- The philosophy and writing of history and various approaches to nationalism.
- And the many other activities, which could be called everyday anthropology...

Music, Movies, and Books

The films in which things are not as they seem in the beginning, laughter through tears, reality mixed with the otherness, the banality of everyday life… But am not following the contemporary developments in Hollywood too well and I am not into watching movies from the laptop alone. :) I often enjoy some Russian (Soviet) classics.

As for the books, the last years have brought me to read mostly non-fiction, scholarly historical books. There was a time when I read quite a lot on leadership, before that, I tried to follow some classics and even before I enjoyed Dumas and Verne, or Lindgren. Anyhow, Marquez, Bulgakov and Waugh I like, but I cannot claim that I always understand them.
