À propos de moi

Hello dear CS users!

My name is Umut. After studying medicine and working in a very rural town in Turkey, I moved to Groningen to experience new things and work on different things than I did before. I can say that I have visited lots of cities in Turkey, includes my parents' hometowns, includes holidays, etc.

Also the family is very very important for me, but it isn't a good topic for CS.

I have something more than my job. I had been a member of faculty theater for 3 years. We played three different plays, in different over than 5 places, and I played 3 different roles. Normally school theaters are amateur theaters, but our school theater was more professional than you’d expect! Also I and some of my friends developed drawing&picture club in my school.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

First of all, I used to live in Izmir, a beautiful and touristic city in Turkey. And I always tried to help travellers' Izmir trips. I rarely host people because I am busy, but at least I tried my best. That is very important for me, because I see that travellers are biggest references of a city or a country. I don't have any ideas about lots of countries, and to be honest, I have some wrong knowledges. Couchsurfing can solve these problems, and can build friendship!!!

Through Couchsurfing, I hosted and surfed in lots of cities, and I showed my city to some travellers.

Thanks to Couchsurfing!

Centres d'intérêt

Drawing (I am not very good)
Theater (watching, also playing)
Eating foods (I eat a lot! Yeey!)
Black tea (how much I drink? 2 cups per day? Hahaha, do you believe that is enough?)
Beer (I try different beers)
Languages (actually, I want to learn lots of languages! But first, I have to solve my problems about English. Now I speak Turkish-of course, English, some Dutch and beginner German. Also, I learned Cyrillic and Greek alphabets)
Mathematics (I used to love maths in high school. And I still like, but I've forgot a little)
Politics (not politic fights)
Medical things (all medicals have a medical reflex. I don't like, but I have)

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I love old radios! Actually I don't really care music type. It depends on my mood. I listen Cem Adrian at late hours. And during study, I listen David Guetta, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and some playlists from different languages. I don't have a real music style.

I need short TV series. Maybe you know, Turkish TV series are almost 2 hours! So I do other chores during movie. I also like crime and sitcom series.

If you are interested in Iran, please watch "Persepolis"! Our last theater play has a similar topic with it. Like Persepolis, but about Afghanistan, I read books of Khaled Hosseini.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

To be honest, I don't have a very adventurous life. For example, I have never hitchhiked. but I can add a few amazing things!

- I travelled around Europe in August 2015. For this travel, I used an Interrail ticket.
My route was: Rome-Venice-Nice&Monaco-Montpellier-Barcelona-Paris-Brussel-Amsterdam-Berlin-Warsaw-Prague-Vienna-Budapest

-During my travel, I had a bike accident in Barcelona. And my right toe was broken. Hopefully, my doctor gave me a special shoe for walking. That is why, I continued my route with my broken feet!

-I stayed dormitory in my high school age (because this high school wasn't in my hometown), I can say that is amazing!

-That's not what I have done, but I have a twin brother who seems like me.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I know I am really good at teaching. I used to teach maths to my friends when I was at high school. If I had had an emptier schedule, I would have continued teaching maths for students. Still I can teach maths, if it isn't very very high level. And I help two people about Turkish, so if you learn Turkish, I'll help you!

I am improving my English, learning German and Dutch. Actually, I want to learn more languages. I would be so happy for your helps!

I know lots of things about Western Turkey, so I can help about other cities in Turkey. We can make a good trip in here!

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

Well, my country is known by traditional foods. So, I can try to cook Turkish foods. I can tell everything which I know. We can also practice languages. I know lots of things about Turkey, I can share them with you! And I have a good talk.

Summary, I'm gonna try my best!
