Atypical American, living in the Netherlands, traveling all over Europe (and the world)!

I love the outdoors. I am 32 and have a PhD in Chemistry. I have traveled to most of North America and most of western/northern Europe. I moved to France in May 2010 for a job (that took me to Antarctica!) and fell in love with the Alps. Now I live in the Netherlands.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to go on many road trips across the Western USA and spent many nights on friends' couches. The freedom and hospitality was wonderful!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in the middle of Greenland's ice cap for 2 months in the summer of 2007 to drill ice cores for my job. It was wonderful, gorgeous, and made me feel so small. I also worked in the middle of Antarctica for 10 weeks in the winter of 2010/11.
