About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Daring to believe that something inside of me is superior to circumstance.
ABOUT ME
What to tell you? I've finished a PhD in Australia last year which quite frankly took farrrr too long. Have been back in the UK for about 6 months and I'm looking forward to travelling to the continent and locally to see where my life goes to from here. Truly, it could go anywhere. My son is grown and I have absolutely no reason to stay in one place anymore. Liberating? Yes. Widly exciting? Definately. Monumentally scary? Absolutely - but the type of scary that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and is kinda nice. Like when I go bungy jumping and white water rafting...
PHILOSOPHY
Look up! We spend so much time on FB reading about other people's lives that we forget to live our own. Look up in a forest, in a city, on a beach and see where you are in the moment. In the immortal words of Duran Duran "All You Need Is Now".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hosted a bit when I lived in Hobart, but looking forward to being a surfer for immediate future. Love the idea, love meeting people from all over and I've been fortunate enough to have made some lasting friendships out of the exercise.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Only hosted till now. Looking forward to surfing from now on. I believe that most people in this world are good at heart and want nothing more than to connect with others. If I can make someone's trip more enjoyable that's great. And if someone else can assist me to connect with the world - well that would be just peachy!!
Interests
mmm travelling, not surprisingly. Getting off the beaten track and doing unexpected things.
Reading, listening to music, adrenalin sports (e.g. bungy, motorbike riding - pillion only) getting my life back after 5 years of PhD....

Music, Movies, and Books
Eighties music tragic I'm afraid. But I do like a range of music, love reading and adore comedy - especially Monty Python and the work of Spike Milligan - Genius. Really into Terry Pratchett and of course the classics
Favourites? Movie = Raiders of the Lost Ark; Life of Brian; Being There; The King's Speech. Book = Tess of the D'Urbervilles,(Thomas Hardy); the war trilogy (in six parts) Spike Milligan. All Terry Pratchett - the man is a literary monument!!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Looking at my son for the first time. Bungy jumping for the first time, jumping out of a perfectly servicable airplane, literally coming eye to eye with a whale and her calf in the waters of Tasmania, watching the sun set over Uluru (Central Australia) meeting Micky Mouse (yes, the REAL one), meeting the members of Duran Duran and completely losing the plot even though I'd been hoping it would happen for 30 years... still looking for amazing things to do and see.
Teach, Learn, Share
What can I teach?? Lots of nerdy academic stuff but that's a bit of a bore. Practical hospitality skills, maybe...
More interested in learning and in the process perhaps pass over some of the learning I have had the opportunity to cultivate over time.
