About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world. A common mission, I'm sure.

ABOUT ME

I didn't leave the US until I was 27, and now the bug's got me. I like exotic food, ancient history, beer, warm climates, and not a whole lot of anything else. I'm getting pretty good at cooking, I guess, and I like to listen to old time radio shows.

PHILOSOPHY

I keep my philosophy to myself, and think everyone should do the same.

Music, Movies, and Books

I actively dislike music, but if that noise has got to be on, it's blues and big band. When I'm on the treadmill at the gymanisum, I listen to old time radio, like The Shadow, Dragnet, The Saint, and Phillip Marlowe. As for movies, I prefer the independant foreign type stuff, film noir, and comedies with as many fart jokes as possible. For books, it's mostly history, travelogues, and cookbooks. I know, I'm a fascinating person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It rained the day I went to the Sahara. I've seen birds flocking around the minarets of the Blue Mosque at night, lit up from underneath. I've seen a Mirhab that would have been in Delhi when Ibn Battuta visited - it's in Toledo. I've drank the world's worst beer in the Cairo airport. I watched the world cup in a Bulgarian backwater that had once been an Empire's capital.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell a good story, and you can draw your own conclusions. That's all I can offer, unless you want to know something about cement chemistry and the sustainability of infrastructure systems.

Countries I’ve Visited
