To live, love, and laugh.
Music is my drug of choice. Nothing in this world gives me greater joy than listening to a favourite album from front to back, catching a local independent band downtown somewhere, or having my eyebrows singed off from all the pyro at a rock show.
I was born in Managua, Nicaragua, but I've lived in Toronto since I was 3. I'm grateful to to be able to call such a diverse and eclectic city home. It always has something to offer, whether it's cuisine from every corner of the world, great music onstage, an event or festival of some sort, or anything else your heart desires.
Right now, though, I recently just moved to Abu Dhabi to teach for two years. So hit me up!
I'm a glass is half-full kinda guy, so I think life is just brighter when you smile.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I hitchhiked across most of Canada and stayed with local musicians in every city I visited. Every city offered a unique experience. Some hosts were friends I already knew, while others were strangers who became friends. For example, the couple I stayed with in Regina were actually in the process of moving to Toronto when I stayed with them, and we immediately hit it off. I'm still grateful to this day for the day Allysia and Mike came into my life.
I moved to Abu Dhabi in September 2015. In my first six months here, I hosted just over half a dozen travelers from all walks of life and from all over the world (including a blind solo traveler!) They were all fantastic guests, and I was happy to have them enter my life. For whatever reason, though, after those first six months, I stopped receiving requests. Fast forward another six months, and suddenly I have five different travelers coming just this month! I'm not sure why that happened, but I'm looking forward to it! I'll be here until the end of June before I move back to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In general, though, I'd say the reason I'm on couchsurfing is likely the same reason for most others: The people. My idea of traveling isn't checking something off of a checklist; it's immersing yourself in a new culture or a new community, and seeing the world through a new set of eyes. That, to me, is the brilliance behind this website--welcoming strangers into your little world and letting them share in a piece of it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking across most of Canada remains my proudest achievement to date. It had a profound impact on me at a difficult time in my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
One thing I've learned in my travels is that your opportunities in life are largely determined by how willing you are to opening yourself up to the people around you, whether it's a best friend or a complete stranger.
What I Can Share with Hosts
