To live, love, and laugh.
Music is my drug of choice. Nothing in this world gives me greater joy than listening to a favourite album from front to back, catching a local independent band downtown somewhere, or having my eyebrows singed off from all the pyro at a rock show.
I was born in Managua, Nicaragua, but I've lived in Toronto since I was 3. I'm grateful to to be able to call such a diverse and eclectic city home. It always has something to offer, whether it's cuisine from every corner of the world, great music onstage, an event or festival of some sort, or anything else your heart desires.
Right now, though, I recently just moved to Abu Dhabi to teach for two years. So hit me up!
I have an ambitious dream to travel the world for a year someday. (Hopefully, someday will come in 2017-2018 if all goes according to plan.)
I'm a glass is half-full kinda guy, so I think life is just brighter when you smile.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I hitchhiked across most of Canada and stayed with local musicians in every city I visited. Every city offered a unique experience. Some hosts were friends I already knew, while others were strangers who became friends. For example, the couple I stayed with in Regina were actually in the process of moving to Toronto when I stayed with them, and we immediately hit it off. I'm still grateful to this day for the day Allysia and Mike came into my life.
I've never hosted anybody because I went to work in Korea for a year shortly after joining this site and my place was too small to host anybody. However now that I've settled into my new home in Abu Dhabi, my place is wide open.
In general, though, I'd say the reason I'm on couchsurfing is likely the same reason for most others: The people. My idea of traveling isn't checking something off of a checklist; it's immersing yourself in a new culture or a new community, and seeing the world through a new set of eyes. That, to me, is the brilliance behind this website--welcoming strangers into your little world and letting them share in a piece of it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking across most of Canada remains my proudest achievement to date. It had a profound impact on me at a difficult time in my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
One thing I've learned in my travels is that your opportunities in life are largely determined by how willing you are to opening yourself up to the people around you, whether it's a best friend or a complete stranger. In fact, strangers often become best friends.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a very easy going fella, and I can't wait to meetcha!
