Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

Having an adequate work-life-balance - and seeing the world!

ABOUT ME

I started out in a small town in Bavaria. Although I'll always be proud of these roots, I kinda needed to get out of there ;).
My first escape route took me to Long Island, where I got the whole Senior experience at an American High School.
After finishing up school at home, I had the fantastically crazy idea of wanting to become a doctor. So I started studying at Heidelberg University, about 4 hours from my parents' house. 2009 I returned to the US for another year abroad. Lexington, Kentucky, wouldn't have been my first choice, but I couldn't have had a better year :)!
I graduated from med school December 2012 and started my first job as a resident in psychiatry in Regensburg, a beautiful Bavarian city.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to think that life is a puzzle - and every friend you'll ever make is a tiny, wonderful piece of it :).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had a couple of wonderful couchsurfing experiences in the US (New Orleans and Cody, Wyoming) and it's time to give something back to the community. I'm pretty busy work-wise, but I'm always up for a coffee or a drink and maybe we'll manage to find a perfect weekend for a "real" couchsurfing experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A friend of mine managed to find us a couch (which turned out to be an awesomly huge and comfortable bed) for a weekend trip to New Orleans. We had the most wonderful experience, since our hosts couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming!
Equally fantastic: A night in Cody, Wyoming - what a lovely family!

Interessi

I love to go out with friends. I like going to non-posh (please no electro, rather party/rock/metal/hiphop music) clubs, but mostly I end up in bars - chilled-out or rather raucous, who cares, give me a beer or a cocktail and I'll be fine ;).
If I don't hang out with friends, there's always a good book to read, my guitar to play with and, of course, time for sleep no matter what hour of the day it may be.
I'm absolutely into movies. Mostly mainstream Hollywood stuff, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy low-budget things. My DVD/BlueRay collection is steadily growing.
I love taking pictures. I just switched from a tiny digital camera to a DSLR and I'm still trying to figure it out :). Sometimes people think it's annoying, but five years after certain parties/important days/random shots I'm the one my friends ask for pictures. Don't worry, I got you covered!
I have no problem admitting to be a facebook addict since there's simply no better way of staying close to people who are spread out all over the world missing each other's real-life company.
Last but not least, I'm a pen-and-paper role playing geek and once again I'm not ashamed to show my nerdy side :). I basically grew up playing "The Dark Eye". An interest in anything related to fantasy, medieval things and metal music kind of goes along with that. Wait, no, I'm not a Goth or an Emo or any of that. Just an (almost) normal doctor with strange hobbies ;).
I almost forgot: I love traveling. That is totally my parents' fault and I blame them for the fact that I spend all my (and all their) money on trips nowadays :).

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I've seen some pretty amazing things in my life - the pyramids of Gizeh, the Grand Canyon, Ha Long Bay - but at the end of the day, it's the simple things that make the most sense to me. What could be better than making a friend smile or doing something good or forming a new friendship or feeling content with yourself and your life?
