About Me
CURRENT MISSION
trying to get to couch surfing--I need some help!
ABOUT ME
I am a cultural researcher, art enthusiast, untrained musician, professional clown, women's/LGBTQ/minority rights activist and serious food lover. I am also a vegetarian (unless it means eating meat for a cultural experience), a socialist and a humanitarian. I strongly identify myself as Mexican along with my United Statesian side.
PHILOSOPHY
1) Every action that I take, I do it for the people who can't or couldn't. Every action that I take, I do it for the people who, thereafter, may be able to do so.
2) My world--its people, creatures, waters, dirt, glasses, planets, plastics, aluminum, sounds, scratchings, lovings, computing, blogging, coffeeing, tearing, wielding, lavas, bones, pains, etc etc--is like an explosion of a million distinct cultural treasure boxes; I get excited just rummaging through it all...I don't have much of a way with words, but that's the best that I can describe it.
3)I have an impenetrable bond with my family...just thinking of them fills me with energy, love and ambition.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to this. In fact, when my friend first told me about it I thought it was a dodgy scam and I didn't believe her. Once I came onto the well organized website and started hearing people around me talk so positively about it, I had a quick change of heart. At the moment I don't have a couch to lend, as I am studying abroad and finishing my MA while living in a small dorm room in East London. However, once I settle into a nice flat in the US, I definitely plan on hosting as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None...but some on the way--I hope.

Music, Movies, and Books
Many many many...but here are my latest obsessions
Movies: Science of sleep and Coraline
Music: Pyschedelic Cumbia and the Horrors
Books: English is Broken Here and Nor-tec Rifa!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Here's three because there are too many!
-A natural cave (Nerja, Spain)
-Swam about 1/4 of a mile from a boat to the shores of Positano in the Amalfi coast (Positano, Italy)
-Confronted death and many deaths (I had osteosarcoma and saw many people I grew to love pass away)
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmm...uuuhhh...I am getting my MA in cultural studies and hope to get my PhD in either communication (media) studies, sociology or performance studies. I guess I can teach you about my ethnicity (Mexican-American) and its cultural politics (god, I sound like a nerd, but this is the focus of my research). I can also clue you into what it's like to have been a cancer patient and also I know a thing or two about music culture.
