About Me

Hi! I’m Utku, an engineer living in Taksim, in the heart of Istanbul.

My place is only 2 minutes from Taksim Metro.

I enjoy rock and hip-hop music, camping, long conversations.
I especially enjoy hosting warm, friendly, and social people who like good conversation.

One of the main reasons I host on Couchsurfing is to improve my English. I especially enjoy talking with native English speakers and learning through conversation. I’m also very interested in the cultures of Central and South America.

I have a terrace with a beautiful sea view, and one of my favorite things is sitting there, having a drink, and talking about travel, life, culture, philosophy, or interesting ideas.

I studied engineering and I’m also interested in technology, science, philosophy, and international cultures. I’ve lived in several countries before, so I enjoy international environments.

If you stay at my place, we can explore Taksim and nearby areas together. I don’t usually have time to explore all of Istanbul, but I’m happy to show my neighborhood, have good conversations, and relax on the terrace with a nice view.

------------- Hosting style / expectations -------------

I enjoy hosting people who are respectful, friendly, and open to cultural exchange.

For me, Couchsurfing is not just about giving someone a free place to sleep. I like meeting people, talking, sharing stories, and learning from each other. If you stay at my place, I hope we can spend some time together, have a conversation, and share our experiences. I prefer guests who do not use the home only like a hotel.

Cleanliness is also very important to me. I expect guests to keep the room, bathroom, and shared spaces clean and tidy. Especially the bathroom should be left clean after use.

In our culture, sharing is important. For example, if you cook something, it is a kind and polite gesture to ask if I would like to taste it too. It is not about the food itself, but about thoughtfulness and sharing.

I also appreciate warm, sincere, and communicative people. Turkish people are generally warm and hospitable, and I feel more comfortable with guests who are also friendly, respectful, and willing to talk.

If you are using Couchsurfing, I believe we should share more than just a space. We should also share stories, ideas, and human connection.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe meeting travelers makes life more interesting and helps us understand the world better.

Interests

I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and learning about their perspectives on life.

I’m interested in engineering, technology, science, and philosophy. I like discussing ideas, how the world works, and different ways of thinking.
