I grew up and lived most of my life in Germany except for 10 years in the US. When I travel I like to experience nature and to meet local people. This year I am going to do the Appalachian Trail starting from Katahdin in May.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend had a very good experience with Couchsurfing and I am going to Iceland next week for a few days where I do not know anybody. I hope to meet some locals this way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quite a few years ago I travelled through Asia for a year when it was still possible to see Afghanistan. More recently I went canoeing in Alaska north of the Arctic Circle for a week i n 2010 (see www.uwelorenzen.de/Trips/Alaska3.html )
