About Me

I am Uyen.
I was born and grown in Vung Tau, a coastal city in Vietnam, in a loving neighborhood, which made me a girl who loves nature and have a high sense of community.
I love traveling and meeting people. I love to tell stories and hear their stories. I love to pack my backpack and get on a journey with a free soul and an open heart.
I love food and ready to discover local cuisine and even cooking.
I am easy-going, lively, honest and like a kid, curious to try new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling but not the "touching" one. I love to immerse myself in what really belongs to the place and makes the place: people, traditions, stories, and cuisine. So I want to find hosts on Couchsurfing so that I can have opportunities to discover what life is like in the place I go to, getting to know and communicate with local people.

Interests

I love food and everything related to food. Food is an important part in every of my trips. Discover cuisine in a place is like discovering its soul. 食べ物が大好きです。
I love tradition, culture and everything related to them. I am especially interested in Japanese culture, even with costumes and regulations. 日本の文化が大好きです。着物と浴衣が好きです。
I also love music and art. I love everything related to beauty. 音楽と美術が好きです
I love nature. A nice walk in the forest seems like the best walk for me.
I like martial arts and I am practicing Aikido. 武道が好きです。

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After high school, I take a half gap year and go to Sapa, a mountainous area in Vietnam, alone, to be a volunteer English teacher in a class for Sapa's ethnic group, H'mong people, to help them have a job in tourism. I also do the job of a housekeeper in a homestay hostel to fund my food and stay. That was the most craziest thing that a high school graduate would do, but it turned out the most amazing experience that became my special memories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that to live in this world is to experience and learn. Each of us has a journey to go, lessons to learn, and people to meet. I would love to spend as much as my can to experience, to see, to discover, to meet, to talk, to share, and to feel.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with you my stories.
And in case my language skill doesn't allow me to, I would share my positiveness, happiness, liveliness and energy.
Also, I have a great interest in cooking, so if you want to, I can cook Vietnamese food and even tell you about the miracle, reason and story behind those dishes.
