About Me

ABOUT ME

When I was 28, I left everything I've ever known to teach English in a foreign country (Korea). Fast forward 7 years, I'm still teaching English in a foreign country (Poland), traveling to amazing places, and--the best part--meeting incredibly wonderful people.

I choose to live, laugh, love, and learn. I value the rich education I have received as I've traveled and met such diverse, unique people. I like sharing my stories, and I can't wait to hear yours.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the organic sociability and hospitality of Couchsurfers when I travel. With thorough experience as both a guest and a host (when I lived in Istanbul), I know the value of approaching these unique opportunities to invest in a new place on a personal level. My very positive experiences with CS have given me such powerful memories to last a lifetime.

Interests

What attracts me the most is people--any age, any culture, any walk of life. This world is entirely too big to stay in one place around one people all my life.

I am a firm believer in Carpe Diem.

Reading, researching for my next trip, and making people laugh are great pastimes.

Above all, I want to give back. To children, to communities, to voiceless animals, to the planet, to the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

The short story: I listen to music and read every day. Movies are interesting if they are documentaries or based on a true story. Or Marvel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Leaving my home, my family, and my comfort zone for the unknown at age 28, after I had established myself in the US, for an indefinite amount of time abroad, was quite a leap of faith.

Watching Aurora Borealis dance across the sky for hours in the middle-of-nowhere, Norway, as I laid on a snowy beach listening to the gentle lapping of the fjord waters will forever remain the most surreal moment of my life.

Sunrise at Angkor Wat was magical. Both times.

Teach, Learn, Share

Give and get--conversation, food, laughter, stories, travel tips, wine, and share the love and happiness of puppies, kitties, and other creatures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Storytime! I know you were hoping I'd cook for you, but that skill has yet to enter my bones. I'm good at cleaning a kitchen after it's been cooked in, so...there's that. :)
