About Me

****Sorry but I can't host at the moment because I am travelig myself for the next year or so*****

Hi,

my name is Valentin Heimer, I'm 23 years old and live in Darmstadt, Germany. I would describe myself as spontaneous, open-minded and passionate about what I love. Last year I received a Bachelor degree in Biomolecular Engineering and right now I am studying Biology at the Technical University of Darmstadt.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This kind of meeting unknown people that might become good acquaintances or even friends is exactly what I'd like to do when I'm travelling in a foreign country. For me, expensive hotels or all-day-long sunbathing on crowded beaches are not at all the way I'd like to spend my holidays. Instead, I really want to dive into a country's culture and nature. And there´s no better way to do so than hanging out or staying with locals.

Interests

I love travelling, especially in countries or areas that are not crawling with tourists. Another passion of mine is photography, especially nature photography, which can be combined perfectly with the latter. On my journeys, my backpack is my constant companion that I take everywhere. The same is true for my camera. I'm a nature freak and few things can impress me as much as pristine landscapes or wild animals. That's why I love hiking and living in a tent for a couple of weeks, with nothing around me but pure nature and/or some really good friends. There's nothing more beautiful than spending a night under the stars of a clear sky next to a campfire.
As much as I love nature, I also enjoy meeting people, have fun, talk, drink and cook together. I am very open-minded and love to learn new things about a culture, country or community. As nerdy the above paragraph about nature may sound, I do belive that I am not THAT freaky and that one can actually quite a bit of fun with me ;)
Other things I enjoy are hitchhiking, climbing/bouldering, reading, music and spending time with my famliy and friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music genres are Punk and Ska. I love Antiflag and the german band "Feine Sahne Fischfilet". Other favorites are Rise Against, System of a Down, Bad Religion, etc.
Although I prefer Punk or Rock most of the time, I also enjoy Indie and electronic music. In fact I believe there are good songs to be found in pretty much every genre.

My favourite movie is "Lord of the Rings"
In terms of books, I really like "The Name of the Wind" but I like reading in general and there's a good book just about anything out there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nothing amazing enough to stop travelling and enjoying life! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Whatever's requested and I'm able to teach ;P
I think I'm able to offer some photography and editing tips to everyone who's interested. I do have a bit of knowledge of (european) flora and fauna that I'd love to share, as well as some outdoor-skills.
In return I'd love to learn other languages, especially Arabic and Russian. Basically, I'd be glad to learn anything. I'm a very curious person ;)
A good story is another thing I always enjoy!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully a lot of fun and an amazing time!!!
Of course I'd really like to prepare a decent meal for anyone who's hosting me.
