Overview
About Me
I've lived on the island all my life and mother a 14 year old son. I run a community centre/shop with some friends. We offer a space for people to connect and be creative. At the centre we offer tea/ coffee and homemade cake and soup for free and have books and dvds to loan for free. We sell local produce and crafts which help fund the project and we also host events such as open mics and film nights. Right now i am busy setting up a time bank on the island. To learn more about this please check out my ted talk..... 'how time banking can help rebuild community spirit - Valerie Miller' and my Facebook page for poetry/ music https://www.facebook.com/Valkyrie-1678470815711041/?fref=
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started couch surfing when I spent a few weeks in the UK carrying out some research into homelessness. This year I have been enjoying reciprocating my surfing experiences by hosting others at my home. All my experiences have been positive :-)
Interests
I love to read, write and meditate. I like Problem solving and Random acts of kindness. MUSIC. People. Cooking healthy, wholesome food. I love yoga but i'm currently unable to practise due to a pesky injury :-(. I am a performance poet and nothing makes me happier than dancing. My main interest is encouraging and implementing positive change upon our planet and i intend on spending every spare second doing so!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reggae and hip hop the best but i am open to all music. I don't watch films often but my favourites are normally psychological thrillers. I watched Boyhood recently. It was good. I mainly read non fiction on health, spirituality, psychology and Magik but i also enjoy a novel sometimes. Some favourites are Atlas shrugged, Shantaram, The Red Tent, The Handmaids Tale, and many childrens novels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Giving birth to my beautiful child.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to fold an origami crane. I'm currently in the midst of the 1000 crane mission. I can show you how to make Raw chocolates and can answer any hair related questions or maybe even do your hair.
I've just started to learn beatboxing and Spanish. I like learning new things so would be a willing student for a willing teacher.
I write poetry and would be happy to share my words.
Countries I’ve Visited
France, Morocco, Turkey, United States
