My name is Vanessa, I'm from Montréal, Canada and I'm 30. I have some professional background in architecture and building inspection. I am very versatile in my interests, and I love to gain new knowledge and skills. You'll hear me laugh often!

I think that the best way to fully visit a new place, is by meeting the people that live in it. They can tell you so many important things, from the best local coffee shop to the old legend about that tree.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people, to share, to make bonds. I want to make them travel by speaking with them, to try to give them that little spark that will make them travel forever.

And if they already have it, then it's precious. Then we can talk about somes of the adventures, the experiences, the food, the cultural differences, everything. For me, sharing is also a way of traveling!

Interests

I'm interested in almost everything.
Music, architecture, culture, reading, role playing, gardening... Things, places and people. Since I'm always craving for new skills, my interests change a lot and this make me able to talk about almost everything :)

My favorite sports are swimming and biking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies : Mostly actions movies. Right now I'm trying to catch up the marvels movies. Also, I am of the ones that never listen to a tv series until the production is finished.
Music : Almost everything! It depends of the mood and the activity. It can be Deadmau5, Finntroll, Streetlight manifesto, Muse, Disturbed, Tryo, Escala, Shaka Ponk, Walk the moon, Artic Monkey, Rhapsody, Audioslave, Liva, The Killer, Pentatonix, Infected Mushroom... And so much more.
Books : I mainly read fantasy and sci-fi novels. My favorites authors are Isaac Asimov, Patrick Rothfuss and Peter Straub. I also read in french, and Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt is one of my favorite french writer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Four week at Sunseed Desert Technology in Spain! http://www.sunseed.org.uk/
They research new ways of low-impact living and how to give new life to the drylands.
Living in a community, compost toilet, limited electricity, limited water, working in gardens, in the drylands, making cob construction, having to cook for 40 vegetarian people... I've learned so much about myself and about sustainable living. It was really amazing.
