ABOUT ME

I am a student from the USA, currently studying in Germany. I study Linguistics and I am always interested in learning new languages and about new cultures. I love traveling and I have had some amazing experiences in the last couple of years, Germany is a great place to live if you like to travel because of it's nice central location and just in the short time I have been here I have been to more European countries than I have have visited states in the U.S.

Unfortunately, I have to leave Germany soon and go back to the real world. Someday I hope to make it back to Germany because I would like to do my Master's here in Historical Linguistics.

Ok, yeah, the historical linguistics thing probably makes me sound like a bit of a boring nerd who sits in a room with her nose in dusty old books all day. Well, I guess that's half true, but I'd like to think that I am also fun to hang out with at times and when the mood strikes me I can even be somewhat witty. I have a rather sarcastic (maybe even weird) sense of humor though, and the people who get along with me best are those who don't take themselves too seriously.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a couple times now and eventually I will graduate to surfing myself. I am going to Denmark and Iceland soon so I will need a lot of couches!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a couple of times but I haven't actually surfed yet, at least not through the website.

Interests

Languages - Aside from my native language of English, I speak German, have taken classes in Icelandic (though I don't speak it very well), and have forgotten nearly everything I learned in Turkish, Japanese and Spanish

Historical Linguistics - I think next Halloween I will dress up as a dead language

Cooking - if I eat something and like it, I will probably try to learn to cook it myself

Eating - I will try anything twice (if I didn't like it the first time, maybe it was made wrong?)

Drinking - wine, beer, fancy cocktails and some non-alcoholic stuff like coffee, tea, iced tea and water (with or without bubbles)

Knitting - scarves, socks and mittens mostly. Someday I will tackle a sweater

Sewing - though I haven't had access to a sewing machine for a couple of years now

Artsy and crafty things -I'm a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none

Cats - especially ginger kittehs

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked on the set of a horror movie directed by and starring a certain B-movie actor with a distinctive chin.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm....I suppose I could teach someone to knit?
Of course, I am always up for a discussion about the historical periods of the English language or about language change in general. I can explain to you why English spelling is so screwy ;)
Oh and I love to cook (I think I mentioned that before) so whether I stay with you or you stay with me, I would love to cook for you!!
