ABOUT ME

My name is Ricky van Meer. I'm a 28 year old Dutchguy traveling the world as a professional photographer, artist and healing massage therapist. Currently I'm living my life on the road, looking for nice jobs and great opportunities to keep my life balanced and beautiful. I've experienced a lot of different cultures and find myself on a spiritual path that's guiding me to beautiful jungle communities, lazy beachtown getaways, high mountain vibrations as well as fascinating and intense cities. I like to mix it up and explore every aspect of my self, so that I can live my life to it's full potential.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to live in the moment. Just go with the flow of life and see where it takes you. Left home with no money and still going strong ever since. Life will take care of you and it will give you what you need. There's happiness all around you, if only you recognize it. Be aware, of yourself, your world and the loving energy that unites us all. Make your passion your work, and your work your passion. And most of all; LIVE.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has been a great ally since I started traveling. Visiting locals and finding jobs in beautiful places, so that I can stay on the road, and experience every culture to the fullest.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first time backpacking throughout Southeast Asia. It all started at the Red Square in Moscow, to make my way to the Hongkong Skyline. Cycling through the Chinese countryside only to take it to the next level in Vietnam, by buying a motorbike and road tripping from Hanoi to HCMC. Chilling out at beautiful deserted islands in Cambodia, to experience the magic of Angkor Wat after that. Even tought English as a volunteer in an orphanage. In Laos again road tripping throughout Jurassic Park-like scenery, but also tubing, elephants, waterfalls and the Gibbon Experience. After all those adventures, made my way to Thailand to chill out in hippie towns and taste the hysteria of Bangkok, only to get myself hospitalized on the islands after a full moon party. Chilling out in Malaysia and Singapore, where I stayed with local families. High mountains, low valleys, nice people, strange people, jungle, beaches, cities, party, culture, love, chilling out and the search for my true self and the meaning of life...
