Overview
About Me
About us...we used to live in Dundee (but now we live in Helsinki). Where is Dundee? An hour drive north from Edinburgh on the beautiful fjord of Tay river. We came to Scotland for our PhDs four years ago - me a temperament Bulgarian biologist and Antti - a serious IT geek. Actually we met in Italy - you know how it goes - I was studying there and Antti was an Erasmus. Oh, Italy, I still miss it a lot! After that I went in Erasmus to Spain for an year - Antti was travelling back and forth from Finland and finally we chose to live in UK - a very convenient English speaking country.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I always wanted to subscribe, but did not have the need and maybe the courage to do it earlier. In Italy I was living in a student accommodation so I got to know people and made friends from all over the world - so most of time I travelled to visit friends.
Then with Antti decided to go for a trip in Iceland and we know nobody from there. And to be honest it is not easy to find a cheap accommodation. So this is how i remembered our old idea of subscribing for CS - thought it may be nice to get to know some new and interesting people and find a free couch for the night; but also get to know the local habits, traditions and culture . We also have a very comfortable sofa-bed in our living room and I really highly recommend you one day to explore Scotland - it is a piece of heaven.
Interests
We are kind of crazy scientists - spend lots of time in the lab and trying to save the the world - just kidding, though I really would love to if I could. In our free time, we enjoy going on the road and explore every spot of Scotland from east to west and from south to north. Enjoy drinking , having good food and laugh with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
We really enjoy music a lot - these days Antti is into metal and some sort of Finnish rock I don't understand, I like rock and jazz. When we are at home, we enjoy something relaxing like Ludovico Einaudi. My waking up alarm music is Sleeping Sun from Nightwish. The last concert we went was two months ago - Placebo in Edinburgh.
I don't remember what was the last movie that impressed me . Last movie I saw in cinema was the Avengers when I fall asleep (actually first time I sleep in cinema). I like independent cinema and foreign movies, I find them somehow rich in flavour.
The book I am reading right now is "The holographic universe" from Michael Talbot - I kind of like this idea of our brains being a hologram and our universe too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I guess my life is the most amazing thing I have done . I really love life with its ups and downs, with all the challenges and obstacles to fight in order to reach that so popular state of nirvana. I haven't reach it yet, but I am fighting every day.
If you ask me in a sense of a trip, then I should say Japan. I was invited on a conference to Kyoto and then I moved as solo traveler to Tokyo and Osaka. It was my first time as solo traveler and I couldn't imagine I could get so much fun with myself. I also met such really really nice and lovely people with some of who I am still keeping in touch - learned so much!
Teach, Learn, Share
"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."--Albert Einstein
