Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Varun. I'm a recent college graduate, born in India and brought up in the California Bay Area. These days I live and work as a software engineer in San Francisco for Airbnb (www.airbnb.com).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the spirit of the people on Couchsurfing. As a new member, reading people's profiles here has reminded be how warm, open, and hospitable humans can be, particularly in the new digital age. The hosts I see all feel like friends who I haven't met yet.
I'm on couchsurfing because at the end of the day all I want is community. I wish opening up one's home to strangers without expectation was the norm in the world and not the exception. I hope to meet amazing people surfing, broaden the range of my experiences, experience other cultures authentically and respectfully, and to return the favor to those visiting San Francisco. This site has inspired me to participate in the "true" sharing economy, one that is independent of how many resources one has, where the transiency of life is fully understood, and where the only currency is care for one another.
