Before sending me a request, don't forget to read the 'My Home' section: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/vasu-kapoor/couch
Since I listed all these resources, I hope your couch request is genuine and invites my interest because over time my couch has become quite picky for hosting travelers. I'm aware that most of us came to know of Couchsurfing after we googled (or ChatGPTed) 'cheap ways to travel' but don't forget that if you're getting a free place to sleep, you need to spend some time convincing your host through your request why they should host you.
Alright I'm done with my rant, let's talk about me for a bit:
I was born and raised in India but I spent a couple of years of my early childhood in Canada. At the age of 18 I moved to Leuven, Belgium where I did my bachelor's and master's in engineering and also got an opportunity to study abroad in Turin, Italy for six months. I started working as a communication systems and security engineer in Brussels after finishing my higher education from KU Leuven in Sept'23.
I love meeting new people, understanding their personalities, beliefs, life philosophies, exploring their lifestyle and getting to know them at a personal level. I find people to be very interesting since every person has something to teach and incredible life stories to share. Afterall, we all have some funny stories, unique perspectives and inspiring experiences to share when we overcame great odds against us and still emerged victorious. Welcoming people in my personal place or staying with them while traveling is a great way for me to nurture my interest in people.
I host travelers because if I don't have enough time and money to travel the world, I bring the world to me. I couchsurf because travelling a place through a native's perspective is a totally different and unique experience. After visiting more than a dozen countries, I no longer find it very interesting to visit mainstream monuments, historical sites and other tourist attractions. For me travelling has become more about connecting with locals, and trying the local cuisine.
I came across CouchSurfing at the age of 16 by watching Tomislav Perko's Ted talk about how he travelled the world with almost no money. My eyes lit up after listening to his tales of adventure and I even went as far as reading both his books about his adventures multiple times. His Ted talk and books inspired me to join CouchSurfing, host people, travel solo and document my own tales of adventure. You can watch his Ted Talk here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7vmHGAshi8
Anyways, that's enough about me. I'll tell you more if we meet in person and if you're eager to get to know me. Since you took the time to visit my profile here's a list of places to visit in Brussels:

Pure Veg India: https://maps.app.goo.gl/JXQ577MiJdRBrKZj8

Are you the type who plans your trip trip well in advance? Then these two websites are for you:

https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Brussels
If you are a chocolate nerd, you will enjoy the (more or less) independent chocolate makers downtown. Otherwise, we go to a supermarket for the bigger pieces, they all sell the usual mainstream (for a Belgian standard, very good unless you are an expert in chocolate) stuff like Côte d'Or, Jacques, Callebaut.
Good to know: the Neuhaus and Leonidas factories have an outlet in the border of Brussels, with interesting prices.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
I usually travel solo because making plans with friends and family can be very difficult (I'm sure you've been there) and I like to travel at my own pace. I believe without CS I would feel quite bored and lonely because especially if you're travelling in the off-season it's very likely that hostels won't have a lot of travelers you could interact with.
As mentioned earlier, I also really enjoy getting to know people, their life philosophies, and their lifestyle habits. I believe that everyone has interesting stories and learning experiences about their lives to share. Couchsurfing is a great opportunity for me to explore this interest of mine and learn from other people while travelling on a budget.

Algo increíble que he hecho
Just one?! I'll list a few:
1. I started running once the lockdown started back in March 2019. Gradually, it became a stress buster and a form of meditation for me. Just like everyone, I like being competent at what I do so I gradually started increasing the distance of my run from 2 km to 30km over the course of a year and a half. In April 2022, I successfully finished a full-length marathon (42.2 km) without stopping for a single moment.
2. Stayed in the middle of a forest in Kosice, Slovakia for two nights with scorching heat, no running water, electricity or another human in a 10 km radius. After spending a couple of nights in a cottage and being greeted in the middle of my sleep by some small furry animals every now and then, I hiked back to the city only dependent on natural water streams.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I wish to learn about your perspective on life, what brings meaning to you, what your life philosophy is, what values you and I share, and what activities you spend your time on.
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
I can teach you some north Indian food recipes, share my travel experiences, some stories about my life in India, and maybe give some running tips. I'll spend time with you, talk to you, help you out with household tasks and try to make you laugh :)
Most importantly, I'll do my best to accept you as you are and to understand why you live and behave the way you do because after observing and getting to know a lot of people during my travels and everyday life, I sense everyone is lonely in some way and wishes to be accepted for who they are. Hopefully after I leave your place, you would be more content and at peace with yourself. :)
When I'm surfing, I don't like sending many requests at a time so I would appreciate a response. If I wrote to you, it most likely means that I beleive we could have a nice connection - I always see read profiles and references.
