About Me

Hey! Namaskaram. 🙏 I’m Vatsalya from Gurgaon, India—a traveller (not a tourist, note the subtle sass), digital designer by profession, and an all-round curious human powered by warm honey water, culture, and connection.

Currently living the dream (on a work from home job and I love what I do), which means I can work from anywhere as long as there’s good Wi-Fi, electricity and a spot to rest my feet after long walks through cities, museums, temples, mountains—or your neighborhood food market.

Why Couchsurfing? To be able to travel, explore and live in places on this earth with beautiful people. Wherever and Whenever possible. ✨
Would love to experience different cultures, extraordinary as well as mundane things.

And definately would love to share whatever skills I have.
From books to music to bike riding to traveling to life hacks to food to wisdom to graphic designing to sketching to book writing and painting to sports to photography to cinema.

Why You Won’t Regret Hosting Me
Because I’ll respect your space, help you cook, vibe with your dog, and probably teach you a thing or two (like a weird life hack or a meditation trick). I'm deeply social but not intrusive, can blend in with the crowd or shine at the dinner table. Also, I do dishes.😇
Oh, and I travel with an open heart and an even more open mind.

I’m passionate about storytelling through art, and these days I express it by capturing moments with my camera—my Instagram feed is a glimpse into that world. In case you're interested. 😉

My rendezvous so far
Outside India - San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Tripoli, Sidon, Baalbek, Byblos, Beirut.
India - Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jharkhand.

Let’s swap stories, share some food, and explore the world in all its weird and wonderful ways.
See you on the other side 🌍
Adiós! ❤️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because the world feels bigger (and better) when you're not just visiting places—but actually living them, with locals who turn cities into stories. ❤️

I’ve always believed that travel isn’t just about ticking off destinations—it's about connections, tea over conversations, and the quiet understanding that we're all a little weird and wonderful in our own way.

Couchsurfing gives me the kind of adventure I crave: spontaneous, real, and full of serendipity. I'm here to learn, share, laugh, maybe get lost (with purpose), and return with a few more stories in my pocket—and maybe a recipe or two. 😇

And when I’m back home in Gurgaon (which isn't often), I can host a female traveller—you’ll get your own room, bathroom, delicious food ofcourse, and probably way too many book or movie recommendations.
And some indoor games, with exotic tea (since I don't drink).
It will be made sure that you are comfortable and well-taken care of. I have a bike, we can use that for traveling around, would love to show you this part of the world, about our culture, delicious food, architecture, art values and experiences. If you're thinking about it? Don't think, just drop in a message.

Music, Movies, and Books

🎶 Music
My playlist is as moody and diverse as my travel history. From soulful Indian classical to indie gems, lo-fi beats to spiritual chants, old Bollywood classics to world music that I can't pronounce but absolutely vibe with.
Rainy day = instrumentals or ghazals.
Road trip = The Lumineers, Lucky Ali, Coldplay.
Good mood? Folk, funk, and a little French café jazz I pretend to understand.

🎬 Movies
Cinematic soul food: Before Sunrise, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Baraka, Into the Wild, Tamasha, Her, and that one weird foreign film no one knows about but I recommend to everyone.
Also love short films, documentaries, and indie cinema that leaves you questioning reality... or your life choices.

📚 Books
I’m a sucker for stories that touch the soul or shake up the mind. Inner Engineering, Death, Enlightment by Sadhguru, Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, The Alchemist, Kafka on the Shore, Tuesdays with Morrie, Ikigai, Sapiens.
I also read a lot of philosophy, travel memoirs, poetry, and the occasional strange novel you find in second-hand bookstores.
Fun fact: I wrote my first novel at 20—so I may just ask you what your favorite book is, and why.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are sooo many—but let me share three that truly stayed with me:

1. I consciously turned inward.
This will always come first. Choosing the inner path changed the entire lens through which I see life. Spirituality isn’t just a practice—it’s become my compass, my anchor, and my quiet joy. There’s no single “moment” here, just an unfolding that keeps deepening. Shambho. 🔱

2. Mosaic Adiyogi Mural – An Ode to My Guru
It started last June with a blank wall and a deep pull to honor the presence that’s been my guiding force—my Guru, my Adiyogi.
What followed was a meditative art journey: measuring, sketching 0.5" squares, hunting materials, mixing color palettes, cutting and pasting 25,200 tiny pieces—by hand.
Three Months of gluey fingers, scissor slips, numbing days and nights… and finally, the piece came alive. Shambho.

It even won the contest of #ArtForAdiyogi organised by Sadhguru's Isha Foundation and got on the live stream of Mahashivratri who's viewership is bigger than Grammys.
(If you’re curious about the process, check out my post: Making of Adiyogi on my Instagram)

3. A Solo Soul Odyssey Across India.
With a backpack, a yoga mat, and no fixed plan, I set off to wander—from the Himalayas to the southern shores. I stayed in ashrams, shared meals with strangers, hiked trails that felt like poetry, and spent seven life-altering days in silent Samyama meditation. The stillness, the raw beauty, the unexpected connections—it changed me.

And if we’re counting… I also wrote a novel at 20, while juggling college and the occasional existential crisis. That was a different kind of adventure—but a worthy one too, I’d say.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I make killer itinerary plans—seriously, if travel planning was a sport, I’d medal. I’m also great at digital design, organizing just about anything (your files, your room, your week), and adding a little structure to the chaos without killing the vibe. I can share what I know about art, storytelling, solo travel, meditation, and how to keep your plants (and spirit) alive.

Learn:
Always hungry to learn—whether it’s your favorite recipe, local slang, a dance move, or just how you see the world. I love learning about different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and the tiny everyday things that make people who they are.

Share:
My presence and full attention. I’m a great listener and love deep, thoughtful conversations—or completely random ones. I’ll probably have something to say no matter the topic. I also love creating memories—whether it’s writing something for you, clicking that one photo you’ll actually love, or doing something small but unforgettable. Basically, I travel light, but I carry good vibes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Apart from great energy and good company?

Endless stories (ask me about solo-traveling through India or how I survived a meditation retreat without coffee).

Kitchen support crew—I can’t cook, but I love good food and will happily help prep, set the table, and clean up after. I'm basically your hype person in the kitchen. With an apt playlist.

Art & creativity—I sketch, paint, photograph, videograph and can even leave behind a tiny piece of art if you'd like.

Deep conversations or silly ones, depending on the time of day and comfort levels.

Respect for your space, culture, and time—I’m tidy, low-maintenance, and independent when needed.

Oh, and graphic design tips, life hacks, or meditation tricks if you're into that kinda thing.

Basically, I bring a backpack full of curiosity, creativity, and gratitude—and leave only good vibes behind ✨
