ABOUT ME

me me me, let's see. i'm vegan so that dictates a lot of my life. it's very important to me to nourish my body and others without harming any beings or supporting any evil corporations. That being said, I cook A LOT. if you stay with me or let me stay with you, food will be involved. I even have a blog, eek!

Currently I do volunteer work at a Rape Crisis Center in Boston. I care very much about ending sexual violence and oppression which is why I am working towards applying for my masters in social work.

I read a lot, mostly feminist theory and literature, sci fi, philosophy and magical realism, especially by Chicana and Native American authors.

i believe people are good and sometimes my instincts tell me otherwise.

PHILOSOPHY

I work to understand my own privilege in the world and try to figure out my role in ending oppression...i haven't failed or succeeded yet.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

trusting that people are cool and giving them a spot to crash when they want it! staying with people who already know the city i am visiting is way more effective and worthwhile.

I will feed those who enter my humble abode. :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've wanted to be best friends with almost everyone I've met. Creepy? No! Undeniably lucky!

I will add that my experience with myself is that I'm a flake about returning all emails. So if I was out of town, unavailable, or not around internet in the past 2 years, that is why I didn't respond to your message. But I'm turning a new leaf! Gettin that reply percentage up!

I have secretly terrible movie taste...but at times, my senses come to.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, brick, love me if you dare, amelie, moulin rouge, american history x, heathers, tank girl, the invasion, psycho, breakfast at tiffany's, closer, igby goes down, the virgin suicides, v for vendetta, the dangerous lives of altar boys, in july, sliding doors, lots more.

i am obsessed with music and can't meet anyone without talking all about it. riotgrrl, pretentious post-rock college music. I am a recovering emo fan, from bands such as mineral, sunny day real estate, the anniversary, the appleseed cast.....actually i still love all of these gems. embarassing? maybe! I don't care, i like to feel things.

recently i've been listening to jenelle monet, kate bush, emily haines and the soft skeleton, the xx, red sparowes, torche.

also, i do actually read real books...but at the end of the night my cookbooks crawl into bed with me :-) thank you isa moskowitz.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

a friend and i were traveling in Copenhagen Denmark and be wandered into Christiania, sat down at a table and then watched all of these squatters, ex drug addicts, hippies, collective members gather around us. They started breaking out into song, singing happy birthday to us, to them, to Christiania and to everyone in the world. It was incredibly bizarre but obviously rad. Definitely one of my favorite places in the world!
