We are a band called The Moon and You (www.themoonandyou.com ; www.facebook.com/themoonandyou). Melissa plays cello, Ryan plays guitar and banjo; we both sing and write songs for the band. Our dear friend Sara Henderson (also an experienced CSer and world traveler) is joining us on this tour, for the first time! We travel about half of our time, in the US and sometimes in Europe. We're based in Asheville, NC, USA. We play theaters, house concerts, senior homes, coffeeshops, weddings... any place and any time. We love to play/listen to/talk about music, of course. We are all fun people who laugh a lot. Sara is an amazing writer and painter; Melissa loves to bake and do crossword puzzles; Ryan loves movies, sci-fi, and drawing; all of us love to cook, eat, drink good beer, and create art of all sorts. We are very happy and kind of silly. We are somewhat low-key but enjoy a party from time to time. We love meeting new people, seeing new places, and trying new foods.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed with wonderful hosts all over Europe when I was working as a nanny in Switzerland about 10 years ago, and was able to host a few people (who have all now become close friends) at my place in Asheville... now I'm back out on the road, and fortunate to be able to stay with CSers from time to time once again! I've definitely surfed more than hosted on CS, but I look forward to more opportunities to host in the future.

CouchSurfing has taught me a lot and changed my life in significant ways, and I'm very grateful for the opportunities this community provides. Every single host and guest I've had has opened up my world a little, and shown me what is most valuable in the experience of traveling.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Once I got to hike with some friends to the foot of an Apu, which is a sort of Andean mountain god, and shear an alpaca who lives up there (the alpaca didn't seem to think it was that great, but I loved it). We were really high up, about 5000 meters; and for about ten minutes of the way, I was riding a burro. It was a hard thing to do, and beautiful, and bizarre in the most wonderful way.

We can teach you to play a little on any number of musical instruments. We can teach you to cook or bake some delicious things. I love to learn words in foreign languages, new dishes, new skills of any kind. Ryan loves to learn about movies, books and music he hasn't heard of before. Sara can teach you to make excellent corn chowder (the secret is lots of black pepper) and speaks several languages. Teach us anything at all, we are here to learn!

We are all pretty good cooks, and we love to make meals for our hosts. We have been full-time touring musicians for about 8 years, and in that time we've tried to become the most helpful, easy, fun and entertaining guests we can be. Since we spend so much time as guests in other people's homes, it's really important to us to make our hosts feel happy and comfortable. We'd love to make music for those who want to hear us play and sing, or give a cello or guitar lesson, or make you laugh, or buy you a beer or a bottle of wine... whatever makes you feel lucky to have us around, because we certainly feel lucky to be your guests.
