About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore the world with boats, bicycles, and boots.

ABOUT ME

I live on a small sailboat, and am currently based in Juneau, Alaska. I sailed up here from the Puget Sound area in Washington State in 2010, planning to just spend the summer exploring by boat and bicycle. But I ended up staying. Something I love about SE Alaska is the ability to easily enjoy the wilderness both by land and sea, and I try to get out to explore often by sailboat, bicycle, foot, skis, packraft, kayak, etc.

PHILOSOPHY

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined couchsurfing a number of years ago while taking a long cycling trip. I've always thought it was a great idea, but never used it much until I was traveling with another couchsurfer in Europe in 2011.

Since I live on a small sailboat, my ability to host overnight is far from ideal, but I enjoy meeting travelers and since I'm lucky enough to have a lot of free time, I'd be happy to show people around town or head out on the trails or waterways (sailing, kayaking, etc).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've always had great experiences with couch surfing!
