About Me

My name is Velvet, I am from Germany and study arts and cultural management. Big surprise - I am interested in different cultures and various types of arts. I especially love getting to know the local culture and pursue some of my interests like theatre, volunteering and playing games with people around me. At the moment I am looking forward to an internship in the area of Vienna and am really excited to explore a city that big and with such a huge cultural heritage. Going to those crazy places all alone is a bit boring so I'd love to meet people that want to join me for the theatre, play some table tennis or take some time off :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Currently, I am not able to host people as I am doing an internship abroad myself. But I'd love to make long-lasting travel experiences abroad. Every place is cooler with someone knowing it - so let's share all that insider knowledge :D

Music, Movies, and Books

I prefer series over movies and really enjoy stuff from different genres. Some favorites of mine are Doctor Who, Carmen Sandiego, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Sense8, Grimm, Blacklist and Lucifer.

Regarding books I love good fantasy stories like Harry Potter or the Red Queen books. When it comes to music I catch myself listening to Billy Talent, lots of 90s and Spanish artists like Shakira and Marquess, but to tell the truth, it's a wild mixture :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I learned that wherever I am in the world, it can become a home 🏡

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that a lot about our own culture is unconscious. Contrasting it with new people of different backgrounds and origins helps us to widen our horizons and reflect on our own cultural imprinting.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could tell you about my home Germany, and about Japan, Indonesia, which I was able to visit during short exchanges. After my semester abroad in Chile I am currently very into investing some time in cooking yummy food. Despite my efforts, I am a mediocre cook, so I'd appreciate any help :D

Besides, I know a bit about how to produce sustainable alternatives for the household like a detergent made from chestnut. From time to time I love trying out something like that and the more people the more fun it is :)
