ABOUT ME

Like most people, I always find it hard to describe myself, and it makes me realise how little I actually know about who I am, but I'm going to give it a shot.

I'm a person who can't sit still, mentally and physically. I get bored after being in the same spot for a while, and though I love taking my time to really get to know a place, at some point it's time for me to move one. I'm a busy bee and always have something going on, whether it's for work, uni or personal development.

I have had quite a few different jobs in the hospitality and tourism industry throughout Europe, went on a year long exchange to Morelia, Mexico when I was 16 and took another gap year after high school to go back there and travel around. I studied Anthropology and Philosophy in beautiful city of Aberdeen, Scotland, and since graduating last year I've been trying out all sorts of things, mainly within copying writing and journalism.

I really enjoy cooking, even though I might not have the time to cook a very elaborate meal, but if you're hosting me or surfing with me I would happily prepare a vegetarian or vegan meal for you.

I try to take care of myself and I won't do anything that I don't want to do, but in general that isn't a lot. I believe that the best way to explore the world and enjoy life is to say 'yes' as much as possible, even to things that might seem rather weird. I almost never decline invitations or say no to strange dishes, you can't say you don't like something without trying it first.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I love learning about different cultures and customs. With couchsurfing you really get to know the people of the city/county you're staying in and their way of life, not just the buildings and surroundings.

兴趣

I like to read and "play" guitar (I haven't practised in so long that I've pretty much forgotten how to play, but I still love the idea). I love cycling and doing water sports (I have some experience surfing, windsurfing and sailing but would love to learn more) or just being close to the ocean. I pretty much enjoy learning anything new, no matter how irrelevant it might seem; cooking a new dish, learning a language or just having a long deep conversation with someone with interesting worldviews and experiences.

🎵The Killers, Pearl Jam, twenty-one pilots, Mumford & Sons, The Kooks, Ben Howard, Ben Harper, The Neighbourhood and a lot more. I love going to concerts and festivals and discovering new bands, regardless of the music genre.

📚 I love to read, from young adult books to Shakespeare. In Dutch, English or Spanish.

Going on exchange to Mexico; amazing country, people, culture, food, everything and in general experiencing a completely different culture from the inside out.

'Gezelligheid' one of the untranslatable dutch words, but I'll try to explain what it means when we meet ;) I don't really have a special talent for anything that would make you super excited to host me but I'm sure we can have a nice time together. I'm a very out going person and I tend say yes to basically every new adventure so you won't get bored. I can try to teach you some Dutch or Spanish, we can exchange travel stories or well just whatever you're up to, and if you don't have any time to hang around with me I also don't mind, I'm not a demanding person and I'm very grateful to everyone who's willing to host me.
