ABOUT ME

We Are...

A collection of individuals, bound by blood. A family, whose specific unique qualities indicate the diversity of our environment, and our preference for human experience.

Our clan leader is our Mother. She provides for the family with her four jobs (although it only seems like two.) Hospitality is in her genes. She is a "crisis stabilization specialist" for mental health as well as a Visiting Nurse. She's followed by...
Richard, 31; father of 3, skateboarder, Dunkin' Donuts employee. He doesn't live here, but his kids, Kien and Cohl, are often around.
Adam, 23; father of one, Rasta, musician, artist and photographer.
Seann, 22; photographer, musician, Djembe drummer, hippie, lives with high school sweetheart.
Eric, 21; artist, storyteller, playwright, world traveller, openly and happily homosexual.
The twins, Sara, 18; professional teenage girl, ballet dancer, cross country runner, floutist... and Ethan; history buff, Warhammer bum, debator, and future politician.

PHILOSOPHY

As the mother of six children my goal in thier lives has been to allowe them to explore anything possible in life. I have opened our home due to the fact that Vermont is so "white" and I needed the kids to know other people from other cultures.
While I personally am a Born Again Christian (don't let that scare you) my children find God in their own ways. I believe in one God for all religious beliefs.
We do not prescribe to religion at all just the teachings of Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, Rasta, Ghandi, Jung, Mandella... Just Love!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We provide a suitable sleeping place and a warm meal (on the nights they're put together) for students, travelers, and guests of any other sort, regardless of any means of social categorization.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It was introduced to the family through Eric, the 4th son, as he travelled through Europe this autumn, 2007. Says Eric: My first great experience with Couchsurfing occured as I arrived in Berlin, and was directed straight to a gathering of Surfers. In one night, I met amazing people from (and perhaps representing) Israel, Ireland, Denmark, Brazil, and Taiwan (as well as fellow Americans), amongst other great places of the earth... and we all laughed together.

Interests

As you have read we are a family of artists.
Activities mostly regarded as favorites include mountain hiking, rock climbing, biking, kayaking... and we all get together for camping trips.
At home we read and share stories, we play with the animals and have family game nights... and we'll often get deep into politics, religion, history and health as dinner topics. Most are cooks; all meals are made collaboratively, and we love to find new things to create in the kitchen.
We like to share music, and even create it amongst some of us. We all have different tastes and styles, from George Winston to Architecture in Helsinki. We create and share our own art, namely photography, as well as art tour museums and study that of the past.
We also skateboard, walk through town, and plain old beat each other up (but certainly not all of us.)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Blues, reggae, rock, alternative, punk, folk, indie, jazz, clasical, ethnic... NO COUNTRY FANS here, but you're certainly welcome.
Books: This is too large a list.....
No TV here just music and movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am the kind of woman who is still amazed by most of life. Each sunset, each time the stars come out. I cry at the first snow each year and marvel at the sounds of my children sharing thier lives with each other.
I have learned that I did not have 6 children, but 6 evolving humans changing every single time I see them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach one to kayak.
The kids have wonderful instruments to share.
We love life....Vermont is a unique place to visit.
