About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn as much about what the world has to offer and to drink as much beer from everywhere around the world as possible, so bring me some !!!

ABOUT ME

I'm an easy going guy who absolutely loves to travel and to see the world ! I'm passionate about life and live for food ! I used to love going out to do something crazy but I have since toned down and I'm officially an old-soul. So please don't expect much out of me on a weekday. Having said that, I have had some CSers who brought out the wilder side in me, so give it a go!

I am originally from Malaysia but consider Sydney my second home and I'd love to show you around it and we'd get along if you like politics, economics, history, FOOD, alcohol (in moderation), sports or current affairs. I'm not big on the clubbing, rave and partying scene, but I do not mind at all going out for a quiet drink that would not involved copious dancing and screaming. I would however love it if you would go see a movie or a play with me though.
I work long hours so I tend to like to take it easy whenever I can, so do forgive my languid expressions, I'm not falling asleep, just in deep thought.

PHILOSOPHY

What doesn't kill you, gives you diarrhea, so just go ahead and eat whatever.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

You're more than welcomed to crash at my place and use my place as a base for traveling.

***Update***
Recently, I have found that CS has been grossly misused. CS has now been transformed from a genuine backpacker/adventurer community into a website for people looking for free accommodation.

Here are my rules and criterias for taking in couchsurfers:
1) You must have a profile photo. Failing in which, I will no hesitate to say no without giving you a reason.
2) You should have some referrals. I also understand if you are new, but you are in the traveling spirit, hence, you're mail is very vital to convince me. I'm a very very easy going guy and very generous as most of my CSer can attest to, but lately, the requests has even became one liners - You are on holiday, make more of an effort ! I have been asked to keep hold of bags, to use my places as a laundry mat and if they can stay at my place while they go for work related issues. Thats not acceptable.
3) If I do accept you, please also understand that I have problems saying no and asking you for your share of any sort of payment. So, unless I like you a lot, please try to get the hint that if I drive you way out of town, splitting the bills on the toll would go a long way to help.
4) I will only accept you for a night if you are a seasoned CSer and have contributed to the cause. So if you are, feel free to request for one.

People. I need you to understand that the reason why I insist on this is because when I make a friend, I make one for life. I have met the best people who we have remained friends and whom I even speak to until now on a regular basis. Do click on the profiles of the people I have hosted and you will know what I mean.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started out wanting to surf on someone's couch, but ended up being a career host =)
I have had nothing but great experiences with my guests and have made good friends along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big movie buff ! However, I lack of funny materials and most of my movies tend to be of a serious and dramatic nature. I have had people staying over and watching DVDs the entire time. Not that it's a bad thing.
Would love for you to introduce me to your local movie scene too as I love "foreign" movies.

Haruki Murakami in my mind is one of the most brilliant writers of our age. I also highly rate Milan Kundera and I do enjoy non-fictional work thats skewed towards development science and politics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in the final rounds of Masterchef Malaysia but obviously, I didn't make the final cut.
I'm a little reluctant to try-out for it again now that I'm in Australia, but we'll see.

Visiting Angkor Wat, which to me was like most childrens' Disneyland. I had goosebumps the entire time I visited my first temple and I will definitely go back again - with a guide this time

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Chinese and Japanese cuisine.
I can also teach you Malay or Indonesian or Mandarin.

You can teach me about anything unusual, but I'm a sponge and I'd take anything in.

Most importantly, we should share a homecooked meal. So please cook something from your country. However basic does not bother me =)

Countries I’ve Visited
