About Me

Shortly after joining Couch Surfing in 2015, I moved to Dubai to work and shared an apartment with a friend and she was not keen to host folk as we had a lot of stray cats (many ill) that we looked after. I am now wanting to travel more- to meet new folk, see new places, enjoy new experiences and share amazing dynamic stress release processes if folk are interested. I will keep my home base in South Africa and I am up to hosting people when I am there.

I am a curious person, wanting to learn as much as I can in this life time. I love adventure. I have many interests and have had several careers from English Teacher, Estate Agent, Financial Consultant, Corporate Trainer, Operations Manager to an international NPO, business owner and complementary therapist.

I therefore love travel and have been to many countries. I too have many interests, besides sailing, scuba diving, dancing - Latin American and still my dream to learn the Tango. I have been to a few lessons, but a good partner is the problem. I love poetry, art, writing (I am writing 3 novels at the moment), enjoy ceramics - done my best pieces - Modigliani figure head type sculptures out of clay.

I consider myself a universal person and have friends from age 16 to 90. I have two sons in their early thirties, Garon, a rock musician and actor, and Jason, a writer and linguist (he speaks several languages, one being Mandarin Chinese), who adore me, and think I am the funkiest mom on the planet and their friends agree.

Finally, I have a universal sense of humour, and simply love to laugh. Life's experience and age, has given me a wee bit of wisdom, which I share when asked. I say we should "Live Life With Passion" otherwise what's the point. My latest saying that I recently coined is the following: Comfort zones breed mediocrity.

To be truly happy I think we need to follow the old adage: Know Thyself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Over the years that I have traveled, I have passed through countries, and most times, never got to know the locals. Only really got to know locals when I have stayed in a country for a long time.

Couch surfing enables one to meet locals and to share their passion for their city/country. Of course, I love meeting new people, exchanging experiences and stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pretty much all sorts - Rock, Jazz, Opera, Classical,
I am an avid reader. Recently I read an incredible book, which my son read after me, and he agrees it is simply incredible. How can I not remember the title? "The Valley of ............ Knowing" I think. It will come to me. Otherwise, I will email him and ask him and let you know .

Today, sailing past Corsica and Sardinia, I thought about a book I read many years ago - it was titled The Magus. I thought it was incredible and I would like to read it again. The author may have been Joseph Conrad.

I am currently reading - Tales of Power by Carlos Castenede - my son, Jason has moulded his life on these principles of the warrior/sorcerer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have sailed a yacht, as first mate, deck hand, cook, mother and nurse, with my ex-husband (skipper) and my two sons, then aged 3 and 4 respectively all the way from Cape Town to Europe and back. I sailed across the Pacific Ocean last year (2018) from Panama to Galapagos, to Hiva Oa (Marquises) to Tahiti to Fiji to Australia.

I have bungi jumped, fire walked (walked on fire) dived the best ship wreck in the world - the Thistlegorm - a British supply ship in the Second World War, bombed down by a German fighter pilot in 1941, in the Red Sea.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am passionate about helping people let go of stress, tension and trauma and am a qualified TRE practitioner, a type of trauma therapist. I believe that in order to be the happy beings we should be, we need to rid the body and mind of prolonged stress and trauma as it affects our well being and wellness.

I am happy to share this self help method with any host that is interested. It is easy to learn, and once learned, can be used on a regular basis to manage stress.

I am also a hypnotherapist and teach people a simple meditation process, as well as a unique way to rid the body of emotional and physical problems, by EFT/Tapping.

What I Can Share with Hosts
