About Me
UPDATE: we are unable to host starting March 12-end of october due to traveling.****
m a native Texan, and I've lived in Central Texas just about all my life. I studied Anthropology in college, and was an archaeologist for a few years after graduating. I'm no longer an archaeologist, but i still love history, culture, learning, and exploring.
About the couch/room. We have a twin bed in a private room, and a couch in the living room. PLEASE BE AWARE: If you have a pet phobia or pet allergies, we have a cat and a dog (pitbull). The cat is quite shy, and, you will probably never see her, except as a brown flash. The dog is friendly, but a little stuck up-she will want nothing to do with you unless you are offering her a peanut butter & apple treat or a carrot.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My fiance and I are planning a trip around the world, and it would be cool to meet people who live in the countries we will be visiting. We have been wanting to host for over a year because Austin is a great place to visit and live in. Also, we've been wanting to host because you should be spending your hard earned money on experiencing Austin/ Central Texas rather than spending it on a bland hotel.
If you love music, then welcome to the "live music capital of the world." Some of the bands that have come through Austin include: Sonic Youth, My Morning Jacket, Iron & Wine, Elvis Costello, Chris Isaak, Soundgarden, Dinosaur Jr, Slayer, Meat Puppets, Neil Young, Toadies, Cherub, Willie Nelson, Jose Gonzales, and Florence + the Machine. But Austin has a lot of other things to offer: great food, kayaking, parks, water holes, East 6th (not just dirty 6th), barbecue, tex mex, Juiceland, Texas Coffee Traders, nearby state parks, and if you are renting a car, go to Big Bend. It's a 6-7 hour drive, but you will never regret going to one of the most beautiful places in the world.
And if you are traveling from within the USA, we also like visiting other states. We definitely want to do a west coast trip (Washington, Oregon, California), and visit more national parks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In La Fortuna, Costa Rica, I hiked up Cerro Chato, and swam in a crater lake at the top of the dormant volcano. The water was green, and cold, and there were fishes nibbling at my feet. During the hike i saw monkeys and a wild coati that growled at me.
