Hello everyone, my name is Veronica and I love nature, storytelling and photography. I work as a photographer for a local newspaper in the Bay Area primarily taking photos of news, art and music, food and portraits. I also have been getting more and more into producing videos, especially documentary-style videos. In my free time I love to head out for a nice long hike in the open space around San Francisco. I also love yoga, reading, cooking and baking, art galleries, live music and of course trying to see as much of the world as I can on a limited budget.

I have had the good fortune to travel to parts of Europe, Asia and Central America. One thing that has always stuck with me about those trips other than the scenery and the adventure of it all was the cultures I was able to get to understand better and the people I met. I actually found my calling to be a photographer when I studied abroad in Florence, Italy and just wandered around from the markets and churches and museums talking to random strangers and taking photos. You can't really claim to visit a place without getting to know the people that live there. I'm interested in meeting new people who can talk to me about their country, share their culture and get to know their passions and interests in life.

Music: It's hard for me to pin down my "favorite" kind of music but my favorite genres are indie, jazz, folk, soul, blues, and afro jazz. The bands I frequently listen to are Wilco, Beck, Fleet Foxes, Andrew Bird, José Gonzalez, M. Ward, She and Him, Neko Case.

Favorite Movies: It's hard to choose but I genuinely love "Good Will Hunting", "Rushmore", "Rivers and Tides (doc. about artist Andy Goldsworthy)",

Books: "Unbroken", "The Glass Castle", "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter", "The Great Gatsby", "Into the Wild", "Life of Pi", "Chronicles of Narnia"

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I don't know if this qualifies as "amazing" but certainly one of the most memorable and adrenaline-inducing experiences I've ever had happened at Interlaken, Switzerland when a few friends and I went "night sledding" on a trip organized by our hostel. We thought it would be a nice quaint little sled ride down a little slope. Instead, we took a ski lift to the top of a ski route in the Alps and were given plastic sleds with one rope to use for steering and had to brake with our heels and it was completely pitch black outside. There were no lights on the 2 mile long course except glow sticks they tied to our backs so we had to follow tiny little green lights all the way down the slope. Oh, and there were plenty of (burned out) light posts on the course, so frequently people would crash into these going close to 25 mph. I'm surprised I made it out alive with no broken bones. I have also skydived once - but the night sledding was way scarier!
