Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At first, I only do meetups in Manila since I don't have my own place back home. But now, I'm living in Phuket, I have my own place, I decided to host. I enjoy hosting people and to be honest, I am quite selective when it comes to hosting. I prefer hosting people with references, meaning they know how couchsurfing works and it will give me an idea how people behave and socialize.

Once in a while I join my surfers and tour around the island. Problem is I am quite scared having a back passenger on my bike. I don't really 100% hangout with my surfers because I still have work to do, but if time permits and I am not too tired, I sometimes join them and show them around.

Couchsurfing is a great way to meet people from all over the world. It help me understand different cultures, values, history and perspectives by meeting random strangers through this site. Eventually, if I'm fortunate enough to meet good people, these strangers become my friend and part of my life. Meeting people online may be a taboo few years ago, but now it is not anymore. We should have an open mind and heart, and keep faith in humanity.
